Usually with airfare. If you don't go on the flight, the airline will give you

A credit for the amount of what you paid for your flight for a future

Ticket. And you have a certain amount of time to rebook.

If Princess cancels a cruise after final payment, they will refund the entire amount of your cruise fare within a week or two. They will also likely give you $100 to change your flight. This is irregardless of any insurance. Hotels usually have a 24-hour cancelation. If they don't, don't book the hotel.

 

Princess insurance covers only what you have booked through Princess and does not cover independent hotel or air arrangements. Which makes sense since the cost of the insurance is based on your Princess invoice.
