Nadersmom Posted March 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2014 We will be staying at the LaQuinta Oceanside in Cocoa Beach before our cruise. We will be flying in a day or two before the cruise and want to rent a car at the airport in Orlando when we arrive. Then drop it off the morning of the cruise and either take a shuttle from car agency or a taxi to the port. Any recommendations on the best rental car agency to use? Do they all have locations for drop off that are fairly close to the port as well as offer shuttle to the port? Or is there usually a long line for shuttles to port from these agencies? Our hope is arrive at the port somewhere around 10:30 or so. Thanks in advance!!!

I believe Budget, Thrifty, Hertz, Avis and Dollar all have locations near the port that will shuttle you to your cruise terminal. Shuttle lines can definitely be long at times but if you are going that early I don't think you have much to worry about Shuttle bus is free, no need to take a taxi from the agency. Nadersmom Posted March 26, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted March 26, 2014 Thanks very much. Are all of the agencies right at the airport as well or off site? Sorry, never rented a car at the airport before so i've no idea what the process is Sent from my SCH-R530U using Tapatalk

Sadie cruiser Posted March 26, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 26, 2014 Hi. We just rented from Budget at MCO in terminal traveling to Cocoa Beach 4/12. Use the BCD code U096100 or Y937800. Make sure it is drop off at Cape Canaveral location on Astronaut Boulevard. I think all the car rentals at the port run shuttles. Good luck! Florida Living Posted March 26, 2014 #8 Share Posted March 26, 2014 Just make sure if you are dropping at a different location they might charge a drop fee.

Sadie cruiser Posted March 26, 2014 #10 Share Posted March 26, 2014 Another poster mentioned he was asked for his card at the rental counter to verify the discount he was receiving. He didn't have the card so no discount! Sorry, I was passing on info of the discount codes that I had seen in another post of car discount codes. I am using my Costco card now. I will have to pay a few bucks more but I will have peace of mind when it is time to pick up the rental. I just wanted to share the info I had just read. Nadersmom Posted March 26, 2014 Author #12 Share Posted March 26, 2014 As I'm checking rental car agencies, I see in the Terms & Conditions that it's possible that we could be traveling on toll roads that are now all electronic or cashless. Dollar/Thrifty offers a package for $8.99 per day for tolls stating if cashless or electronic, there is nowhere for rental cars to stop and pay tolls. Does anyone know if the highway from Orlando Airport to Port Canaveral is a cashless toll road? I know it's a toll road, but is it cashless or all electronic? The fines for not being able to pay tolls if we don't have this $8.99/day option appear are over $100.00!
