About a few months ago I thanked Trent, Bequia and Doone for all of their help in assisting us in what good hotels, motels, inns, etc were available in Fort Lauderdale. Again Trent and Bequia many, many thanks for your help in choosing hotels in your area. Doone has been a BIG help in Priceline for that area.

We really do appreciate all of your help and many, many thanks.

Marilyn, you are welcome but my help is so limited with priceline, I guess I just gave you all what worked for me. I am glad it was of some value to you and, hopefully, others.

These boards are great, so many helpful people here, that's how I learned what I know, others. Thanks, everyone.

I agree with you Marilyn. I would like to express my thanks too for all their advice. I have learned so much from reading their replies on the various threads pertaining to the hotels, areas, maps, etc. All your shared information has been invaluable!

Thanks again!

Marg.

Always a pleasure to help out. Once and awhile I have to get out of town, perhaps one day I'll be asking you for advice on your neck of the woods and you can steer me in the right direction. :)

I too have received a wealth of knowledge from reading these boards.Still undecided about where to stay for an upcoming cruise in Feb of 2006.We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express several times and now would lilke to try something else this time. Reniassance comes in at 399 dollars per night, and so that one is out, especially when you do the exchange!!!!Thinking of trying the Hampton Inn ,I think near the Airport.Any other suggestions????Like many just want a clean, pleasant hotel for one night.

I would steer clear of that place, as well as all of the other hotel & motels along and just off of State Road 84. While that particular place is probably okay, the neighborhood around it is not very safe.

You would be well advised to stick with the SE 17th Street or beach hotels...

What about the Comfort Suites on Federal Hwy? I've had difficulty finding an available room the night before our Feb 18th cruise. A lot of hotels are booked and others are just too expensive.

I've reserved a room at the Comfort Suites. Can anyone tell me anything about the hotel and the area? I'll be traveling with my Mom and cousin (all females).

Thanks,

Lori

That's one that I haven't personally been in, but the reviews I've seen are very mixed, some like it, many don't. The location is okay... It's just south of SE 17th Street on Federal Hwy. A bit farther of a walk to the stores and restaurants on SE 17th than most, but it's doable. That's a tough weekend, a lot of people are saying the hotels are either sold out or the prices are through the roof. Good luck!

Thanks TrentS - I'm just looking for a safe, clean room that is not too far from the port. Do you know what is going on there that weekend which would cause most of the hotels to be booked?

Thanks,

Lori

I guess just because it's President's Day weekend and the middle of winter... There's the Miami Boat show and Coconut Grove Art's Festival, plus the big event in Fort Lauderdale this year - The King Tut exhibit is at the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art from December 15 to April 23. There's a LOT of interest in that.

Trent, thanks sooo much for the information on the hotels, checked each and everyone, and believe it or not all close to the 300 dollar mark, the Embassy was in at low 200.Still undecided as to what to do,like most just want a clean, safe room for the night.Personally feel that the Holiday Inn is in need of some work, but guess that might be the one. The other couple are driving, while we are flying so even out a bit might work. Hope you can give us some further suggestions.Regards Liz
