Choosing your Dynamic Dining time

We have cruised close to 40 times and have always selected main seating, usually around 6PM. It's been the trend in recent years that early seating closes out quickly, so if you don't book early you lose. I made our Quantum reservation many months ago when it was first available to D+ members. At that time I was confirmed for early seating. My concern is what happens on May 15th when it becomes open to everyone. Will the early times and venues become available on a first come, first served basis. It would be nice if they opened it up in steps starting from Pinnacle Crown & Anchor members and working down from there. Recently aboard the Allure a good friend, a Pinnacle member was denied access to the comedy club. Unable to make a reservation he was told to wait in the stand by line, he never got in to see the show. I do not want to go online and find that the only time is 9PM for the venue of my choice and be stuck with the Windjammer on a very expensive cruise.

You need to call your travel agent and see if you are pre-approved to book the dynamic dining option. We were told by ours that we were and we are already booked for every night and my first choice of time was not available now. Hope this helps you.

Every single cruiser on Quantum is on dynamic dining.

You will still need to make reservations on May 15th. No reservations are booked until May 15th since the tool used to make dining reservations isn't even published yet.

If your TA says you have dinner reservations already, they're either really out of the loop or lying.

My invoice from my TA/RCL on the Q says 6pm. What is the impact of the DD

option on my reserved time dining reservation.

Your set 6pm dining is now non-existent. Dynamic dining is the only dining on Quantum and Anthem. There are no reserved times on these ships. The only dinner reservations you have are the ones you make at each separate restaurant.

When Q booking was released, Dining was not revealed. Some months ago, all set dining times were reset. If you log into "My Cruises", your dining will be "Dynamic Dining".

Reservations for dining open on May 15th.

Hopefully this pdf on Dynamic Dining should help answer your question -

Thanks. Would you know the lead time to make reservations. I know that if I need to make dining or specific table reservation I need to contact RCCL dining 50 days prior to cruise--Will this be the standard in DD reservations?

Sorry but until the Tool/App is available on May 15th we don't know any further details.

I'd assume (big assumption) that dining will open the same time shows open. I'd say 6 months before a scheduled cruise?

May 15th is a little under 6 months from the Inaugrual sailing.

No one knows. I'm taking a stab in the dark, lol.

Also, that reminds me. If they are opening dining May 15th....wouldn't we need to know all the shows on-board by then? Hmmmmmm, Next reveal before May 15th?!

I had the same thought last night...wouldn't we need to know the shows and times before the tool becomes available...so therefore wouldn't there need to be an entertainment reveal before then.

If I remember correctly Adam did say the entertainment reveal would be a big one.

Adam said nothing about having to be pre-approved. Dynamic Dining is for everyone on the ship and specific times to book will not be available until May 15, 2014. I think you'd better recheck with your TA about what you are actually signed up for.

When we booked our cruise when bookings first opened, we requested MTD and that is what is showing on our booking confirmation. Now we know that MTD is really called Dynamic Dining on Quantum with the same procedure for making reservations for each night available prior to boarding.

If you've ever booked specialty restaurants before, you know that the toughest time is 7:30 and it works out from there.

I think you'll mostly get your 6 PM time, but as the FAQ says... "We encourage guests to experience a different restaurant each night." So be creative!

I'm wondering how far from sail date dining and entertainment reservations will open up. I am sailing March 29, 2015 with a group of seven who will have very specific ideas on where they want to eat each night, and I'm sure I will be responsible for making sure they are accommodated. Lol. Does anyone know? I asked on the official Royal Caribbean thread the other night and the answer was that all reservations would become available May 15. I feel like this will be too early for a March 29, 2015 sailing.

I hear ya! I'm responsible for 9! And four will be teens.

This was the same on the Oasis when it first opened up. Also on my Allure cruise, show schedules didn't come out until 2 weeks before the cruise. There was some computer problem going on. Just book your dining times then book your shows later. You might need to do some tweaking to get everything in, but I bet not more than one or two changes. It seems to all work out.

This sound weird, as there is no MDR anymore but 5 of them.

How can TA or RCI switch to give you the same res unless you specify which dining room and which day

IMO - The logical thing for RC to do would make it so that you cannot reserve dining times and /or show times until after you have made final payment, thereby, verifying you are definitely onboard.

That would stagger things for everyone and not bog down the system.

But, they obviously haven't thought about that.

I envision lots of people booking dining times and then cancelling their cruise and all of a sudden those most sought after dining times open up again right around final payment time.

Okay, look this is what I know. After I saw the E-mail about the dining, I called my travel agent to ask her for a dining guide or could she get one from RCCL. She called to find out and was surprised to find that I had been selected to make all of our dining reservations in the next ten days. My cousin and her husband are travelling with us and they then called their travel agent who had also not received any word of this. She also called RCCL and was told they were also selected to make their dining reservations early. So, I called RCCL yesterday and made all of our complimentary and specialty reservations for the entire 12 day cruise in January 2015. They are now showing up on my reservation page with RCCL and everything. I will admit it took me most of the day yesterday because their system for this is new and it keep crashing. In short, the four of us are booked. The hitch is you must be pre-approved and it must be called in - it is not available on the website. I am just trying to pass the word and be a nice guy. I have no earthly idea on how they selected the people to be able to book this early. Just thought people might like to know to call their travel agents and have them try to find out for them.

Aren't you concerned that your dinner reservations will clash with shows etc ?

It was more important to us to get the dining times and venues we wanted. When the activities open up we will just see what will work out with our dining times and book those. We all also enjoy the casino so it will be our fall back if we can't find anything.

Thanks :D

My TA offered to call for me but I said no thanks I will wait until I see the entertainment/show schedule.

I am assuming you had to pay now for the specialty restaurants ?
