Very interesting. I really appreciate the info. So as of now, NCL owns and operates the vessel. Kind of like signing over a cars title when it's paid in full is guess.

What surprised me was no notification from NCL. They notified us about the increase in gratuities, and kept the old price if you pre-paid. But the UBP was a large increase in comparison, and no notification, not even a warning that it was coming when I asked about booking it later on. Just astoundingly bad customer service.

But there's the difference: everyone is supposed to pay gratuities, not optional (ignoring the whole reducing gratuities at the desk or when you get home, etc., stuff). Not everyone has to take the UBP (but it sounds like a lot are). When stores or land restaurants raise prices, they don't announce it; when governments raise taxes or fees, they announce it.

And if the person you were talking to didn't have the information when you spoke to them, or if the decision hadn't even been made at the time, it's not bad customer service. It's just bad luck/timing. I doubt the employee out-and-out lied.

Escape is coming into Hamburg now!!

Note the Nespresso cup coffee machine in the Haven suite. No Lavazza. Epic has got Nespresso too after her drydock last week.

That is a shame. It doesn't look like it's got a mike steamer like the Lavazza does.

Glad I didn't book the haven now :p

Friday we will probably reach half a million views. From stalking the first plates of steel until this moment where she is handed over and soon will be crossing the Atlantic, this thread truly reflects the passion we all share!

So does anyone know if NCL's partnership with Lavazza is over? I love Lavazza and was so looking forward to having it on our June cruise. I'm not booked in the Haven but if I were I would not be pleased as the Lavazza coffeemaker was a huge selling point to me. Nespresso is like Starfolgers. 😕
