Time to leave Carnival

So, good bye. People on other lines are probably tired of their same old ports, their same old food, same entertainment. All you are doing is switching places with others curious about Carnival and will come over here.

perhaps but the entertainment on carnival has sure gone downhill in the past few years

looking forward to our first Princess cruise next month for that reason

Our group went on our cruise in February and has begun to be a tradition. But with Carnival having the same old ports. Seems like the food is the same and the entertainment really has not change much. We decided it was time to leave Carnival and go on to another Cruise line for next year.

I think what was the biggest factor was changing how many cruises to get to be VIP and then for once you are there faster to fun that people pay as finally determined that Carnival has taken away allot of what we wanted.

No bands on the Lido deck was another factor and the same pool games being played.

Who knows we may return sometime but its time to say Goodbye.

It's good to branch out! :) We still will book with Carnival but find it's not our Cruise Line of choice anymore and are booking less and less with them. We are now planning "bucket list" cruises which Carnival doesn't offer and booking on lines with better quality food and menu selections. There are lots of choices out there with interesting Itineraries (even River Cruising)! :)

Wow, people!!!! You get what you pay for!

Carnival offers a great cruise for their price.

If you don't like the entertainment, then GO to Princess, or RCCL.

Not all people WANT a Flowrider, or a rock climbing wall, or ice rink:confused::confused:

No need to slam Carnival.

From what I hear RCCL's food is WORSE than Carnivals.

I just don't get it.

Move ON. But no need to slam Carnival.

And just keep in mind........" the grass isn't always greener on the other side"

Enjoy!:D:D:D

Sometimes we need to make little changes like this in lives.

With all the different cruise lines out there it can be mind boggling when looking for a change. I know because at the end of this year we will become Diamond Plus on Royal Caribbean and we are looking so a change. Decisions, decisions, decisions. its giving us one major headache.

Enjoy your next cruise. :)

I've sailed on just about every major cruise line and my 3 favorites in no particular order are Royal Carib, Carnival, and Celebrity.

I was on 1 Holland American cruise and my girlfriend and I were the youngest people by about 200 years j/k. Disney was fun with ny nieces and nephews, but no casino killed it for me. Norwegian was ok, but for about the same price, I'd rather sail on Celebrity.

Have fun picking your next cruise line. :)

And you won't know if Princess's entertainment has gone down too. It will just be something new to you, just as new Carnival cruisers don't know of changes.

To the original OP...get out there and explore, find out what "floats YOUR boat". :D

The DH and I base our decision on what cruise line to sail based on the following criteria...

Who has the cheapest price?

Do they have a ship sailing on the dates we want to travel?

Is the ship's itinerary one that we would like?

If the answer to these three questions are yes...that's who we'll be sailing with.:D

Simple as that for us.:D

I understand where you're coming from OP. We, too, are carnival sailers. It was my go to line until Norwegian came out with a true kids sail free promotion & we decided that maybe it's time to try something else. We enjoyed our carnival vacations thoroughly but, yes, they were getting repetitive and there were some cuts that we didn't like so we are excited to try a new line. From my research it seems that there will be more entertainment & more activities for our kids on NCL. Who knows, we may be back to Carnival or we may have found a new home. We're finally open to new things. But I am anxious for some reason that I am sailing in "unfamiliar" waters LOL ;)

NCL has had many many cuts, but you will not know that, so you should be fine.

I still prefer NCL to carnival, but they do not have year round sailing from my home port so I have actually sailed Carnival more.

Yeah, it's all relative huh? I'm mostly just excited to try something new. Not to mention the price was $500 less than carnival so we are getting to try something new for less money. And a new ship! Worth a try if nothing else :)

We just got off the Valor.. love the southern cruise. My favorite.

Haven't been on RCCL (emerald almost plat) for years cause we jump over to CCL. (gold)

Want to do another southern.... RCCL has a different interary... St. John and St. Cruix. Yes, a little more...

Really leaning towards that for the family next cruise...

Oh. my so many decisions

We, too, have switched cruise lines. I wish you the best of luck with finding a cruise line that meets your needs and expectations.

Dittos here as well. Except we left because of the smoking on balcony policy. If and when they change that, we may return. Reaching platinum was cool until they brought in the FTTF gimmick. Oh well, we are liking Princess quite well.

The entertainment is awful on Carnival, it has really gone down hill. It reminds me of high school performances. After about 6 cruises with Carnival, we never went to any of the shows - bored the heck out of us.

Started out with Carnival back in the 80's. Mardi Gras, Holiday, Celebration, Ecstasy, etc.. .. A lot of cruises. We were young and they were cheap vacations and a big party. Always a good time.

Got a little older and started on Royal. Stayed loyal to them for a long time. Love the Voyager class, Freedom and Radiance class ships. Personally the newer RCCL ships do not interest us. Saddens us the direction they have taken.

A friend convinced us to try Carnival again about when Spirit class came around.... Loved it.

Specifically our son loves it and there are always a lot of families. Terrific family affordable line. Not to fancy, not to big! Perfect for our family.

Just did Celebrity Reflection......meeehhh... Ok, not really our crowd. Service great, food excellent. We did sail on Celebrity before we had a child and we liked more then.

Princess.... Loved!!!! Liked Princess over Celebrity.

NCL.... Great weekend ship out of Miami. The Sky.

Disney..... Way to many kids...LOL. And we have a kid.

Point is we have experienced a lot of lines. GO FOR IT!!!!!!

I suppose by sailing different lines myself, I don't really ever feel like I am saying goodbye to one line.

All cruises are more alike than different. Different ships and lines have different bells and whistles, but at the end of the day it is all quite similar.

I pick the cruise based on ports and price, followed by whether the ship. The specific line is not a real consideration - although I have largely avoided NCL because of the lack of traditional dining and HAL because I do want some night life.

To the OP, try other lines. You will never know whats out there unless you try. We got tired of all the cutbacks on CCL, and ventured to other lines. We sailed Allure on RCCL and the Star on NCL. Since then, we have exclusively chosen NCL every time. I feel their product and service is more on our scale right now. We booked the Epic today for a cruise leaving on 4/13. I priced all the lines to see what the deals were before deciding and this even included CCL as I wasn't sure what rooms would be available on such short notice. Even with my interline/airline employee discount with CCL, we got a balcony on the Epic for less than we could get on Conquest, Glory, Liberty which are a good bit older than Epic and have no where near the features that Epic offers. We may eventually swing back over to CCL for something here and there, but branch out, the grass may be greener for your taste on the other side.

I would love to hear what you think about Celebrity after your cruise. I've been thinking about trying them mostly because of their more restrictive smoking policy.

I promise that I will write a review and put if on this board. I will post it with a title such as . "Carnival Old timers Try Celebrity"

Like I said I am half giddy with anticipation

Then I am half worried ill that we will be on a ship for a week that we don't like

then I think........is it possible to be totally miserable on a cruise on a MS cruise line? don't think so. pending a mechanical breakdown or such

then I am giddy with anticipation again....................I am going to start reading reviews. And I am reading the Celebrity Board. Getting ready. So far.........seems to compare with Princess.
