Drink prices

If you order a bottle of wine for dinner and drink half of it. Like they do on other cruise lines - will they give you a number so you can drink the remaining wine in that bottle the next evening?

Yes certainly, and that bottle may be retrieved to any of the lounges or restaurants.

The service is seamless and the way that they handle the Wine Cellar is one of the nicest features of sailing on Oceania.

Still trying to evaluate the drink packages. Does anyone have any actual prices of beer, cocktails and house wine offerings?

A beer is $5.50 plus 18%

A Cocktail Basic is $9.50 or $10.50 plus 18%

A House Wine is from $8.50 up to $11.50 plus 18%

We found that to break even you had to have about 6 drinks per day.

These were the prices on Riviera in May this year.

Please explain "Drink Packages". We are on our first Oceania in Sept and understand that "drinks" with lunch and dinner are included in the fare. Is the drinks package for drinks during the day, or is it for Premium wines at dinner.

Retrieving the dinner wine in any of the bars seems to be a good point!

Plus 18% is pretty steep. (for a Brit!!!!!)

Thanks for all the info. Much appreciated.

The only drinks included are soft drinks, mineral water, coffees etc. The only complimentary alcohol is served at the Captains Cocktail party towards the start of the cruise (and at the Oceania Club party on your second and subsequent cruises), and if you are in Concierge Level or above a bottle of champagne on embarkation.

For me the Prestige Select package is a no brainer....

Glass of wine with lunch $10.50 + 18%

Glass of house Montaudon champagne pre dinner $15.50+18%

2 glasses of wine with dinner $21+18%

Port/cognac other digestif .....at least $10+18%......a shade over $67....prestige package price is $59.95/day. On sea days or an early departure you can probably add another pre dinner champagne or a beer by the pool.

O did send out a mailshot in the UK with Prestige Select included on a number of 2014 itineraries as a promotion, worth checking with your travel agent, but it's certainly not a standard inclusion.

On a previous cruise we both bought the Prestige package.

Our bar bill at $1200 was considerably more than we have paid in the past.

We drank considerably more than we have in the past.

We had a great time as we have had in the past.

We closed down Horizons more than we have in the past.

I hope with more pax taking the package more will stay up for night cap in Horizons and add some life.

I very much like that, similar to policy re: carrying alcohol on board, O treats us as adults and we are not forced to buy a package for everyone in a stateroom

Also like that almost all drinks is included, just excludes high-end single malts, so no wondering if this or that is or is not included.

Also like that this is an optional package and not included in the general cruise fare, unless on a promotion of course.

I agree with Hawaiidan and we would not buy it for a longer voyage, just too much money for the full cruise for the convenience alone. It would be good if they would sell it per segment on b2b.

What are they offering for the World Cruise?

Thank you. It would seem that we have not quite understood the "drinking policy" but are very glad to have your input and explanation. One never likes to be surprised!!!!!

I guess the best way to describe it is that you can "pay as you drink " 18% added to each bill

House Select Package Gratuity included in the daily PP price you can get wine (by the glass) or beer at lunch & dinner ..if you want an after noon cocktail you pay the going rate

Prestige Package Gratuity included in the daily PP price..you can drink just about anything alcoholic anytime a bar is open ..some exceptions apply

See post #16 for a list of what is included in the packages ...subject to change ;)
