Passports/Norwegian Gem

Do you need a passport to travel from NYC back to NYC? Anyone ever go with just id and birth certificate? Have you had any issues? The Norwegian site makes is sound like you need the passport. But my PCC said I don't.

 

Can some give me their experiences with out one? or is it a must?

Just be sure your birth certificate is an official, county/state one, not the hospital certificate of live birth. An official certificate will probably have a raised seal or watermarks on it.

Is this a cruise to nowhere, or a cruise that goes somewhere and eventually gets back to NYC?

It goes to Port Canaveral, Great Stirup Cay, and Nassau then back to NYC

Official BC and ID are fine~ only reason you'd need a passport is if you need to fly home from a foreign port~

Official birth certificate plus photo ID is fine if you were born in the US. If you are a naturalized US citizen you need your certificate of naturalization instead of the birth certificate, plus the photo ID. If you were outside the US but were a US citizen at birth you need the consular report of birth abroad instead of the birth certificate, plus the photo ID.
