maryann2 Posted April 1, 2014 #51 Share Posted April 1, 2014 Some more food pictures. These delicious little pastries were always on the lunch buffet. Thank you for taking the time to post an excellent review and love the photos. I love photos with people in them and of course the food photos. I was on the Preziosa in October and the Divina seems similar. Thank you again.

heeb Posted April 2, 2014 #56 Share Posted April 2, 2014 Great review! Did you see the Michael Jackson show? Please review. Just booked a 10 day on the Divina for this Nov. and reviews like this one are good to see. How was it getting a lounge chair by the pools? I hate when people try to reserve them early am by placing a towel on the chairs. If were going to book another cruise for the near future would the Divina be high on your list?
Tobias10 Posted April 2, 2014 #57 Share Posted April 2, 2014 At the beginning of the week I did see limes in several Mojitas coming from the bar near the atrium down the hall from the Black and White Lounge - maybe they ran out or maybe they only stocked them in certain bars where fruity drinks are most popular. since I don't care for lime I wasn't really looking for them. it's possible that there is a shortage and they just did not get a supply that they ordered. I certainly would not judge how enjoyable a week at sea was based on whether or not there were limes. My husband recently survived prostate cancer, so I could every day with him as a day to cherish and I just had 7 of them on the Divina!
Tobias10 Posted April 2, 2014 #58 Share Posted April 2, 2014 there is a daily bingo at 8 pm on days in port and twice a day while at sea. earlier ones are in the Aqua Spa on deck 14 by the pool so be prepared to try and find seating if you cannot play with the paper tickets on your lap. the evening one is in the pantheon theater on deck 5. they charge $10 for one sheet of 3 bingo grids and they play one cover-all game for that price. if you buy two sheets you get a third one free. if you get all numbers by number 40 the prize is $25,000, by number 45 the prize drops to $10,000 and after that the prize is whatever they sold in bingo tickets for that game. they sell the paper sheets where you fold back the number - not my favorite type of bingo sheet, but I still played. we could not go into Great Stirrup Cay on Friday due to high winds and waves so they held 3 bingos that day. no one won the big prizes last week. Tobias10 Posted April 2, 2014 #59 Share Posted April 2, 2014 I thought the Michael Jackson show was great - there were comments that the entertainment staff person who was dressed like him did not keep up with the lip sync of the music but I could not see his mouth that closely to tell if that were true or not. the music was great and the dance staff is awesome. I would have liked to have a couple more songs in the show, but all in all it was great. you will be so impressed with their shows - they are the best I have ever seen so far on a cruise. I am watching for another super special and would definitely sail on the Divina again - I may try the Musica next.
Tobias10 Posted April 2, 2014 #60 Share Posted April 2, 2014 my husband and I only went to the pool on the last day and we went early so we got a table with no problem. there are 3 pools with lounge chairs and tables and chairs around them. you have to check out the towels using your room key. when we were up on decks 14 or 15 the areas seemed pretty full, so I don't know how hard it would be to get a deck chair unless you went during someone's meal time or early. Incredible. I would book this ship again just for the shows, they are that good. As for the chairs by the pool, we were on during spring break time with a zillion kids, so being by the pool wasn't the most appealing thing to us, lol. But we usually could find a nice table in the La Sirene area without a problem. We liked it there, nice and shady. We're from Florida and get way too much sun as it is. And I can say without reservation that I would definitely book the Divina again and will probably always compare other ships to it now. We really loved it, it was just so FUN. Bosjoe Posted April 2, 2014 #63 Share Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) . Just booked a 10 day on the Divina for this Nov. and reviews like this one are good to see. How was it getting a lounge chair by the pools? I hate when people try to reserve them early am by placing a towel on the chairs. Your going to run into this on basically on all ships in the caribbean on sea days of people chair hogging. I did grab a coupld of chairs that had towels on them I sat there for over an hour no one returned, 2 chairs next to me the same thing towels. There was 2 woman looking for chairs, I said take those 2 no one has been here for over an hour, if they come back now send them to me. :) I said your not allowed to hoard chairs. They sat down and the people never came by. I absolutely dislike these people who do this, and I have no problem grabbing an attendant to grab peoples stuff if its more then just towels. pamwinn Posted April 3, 2014 #65 Share Posted April 3, 2014 Wow! Great review.:D I will be on the 4/19 sailing and can't wait. I've read a lot of conflicting info regarding dress codes. On the non-gala nights, would capris, a casual top (not a t-shirt) and sandals fit in okay? As to the Gala nights, what is the minimal I can get by with and still be acceptable (fit in...no sneers)? I have lost a lot of weight...and I'm not finished yet. All of my formal outfits are way too big and I don't want to purchase anything like that as it won't fit the next time I need it. Even my capri's are too big though not unwearable yet. I don't even have a pair of dressy black slacks that fit but plan to get a pair next week. I have purchased so many clothes during this diet just to send them off to the salvation army a few months later in like new condition. I just want to buy as little as possible until I reach my goal. I started the diet shortly after I retired so I don't have any "dress for success" clothing at all.
Calitexar Posted April 3, 2014 #66 Share Posted April 3, 2014 Thanks for the very thorough review. I, too, have the same question regarding attire. Would like to take as little as possible, but don't want to feel underdressed. Just haven't dressed up on a cruise in a very long time, so I want to conform, but don't want to haul formal gown and tux if possible. Thanks again! Great review! For the gala evenings, a nice pair of black dress slacks paired with a pretty top, maybe one with a few sparklies to make you feel fancy, would do very well. As for smoking, it was wonderful to walk through a casino and not smell any smoke - never smelled any from our balcony either.
Tobias10 Posted April 5, 2014 #70 Share Posted April 5, 2014 Dress was pretty casual onboard - my husband went to dinner in the evening in the Black Crab dining room in shorts and a polo shirt and i wore capris all week with sandals. one evening i had a blister on my foot and my shoes all hurt so i wore my bedroom slippers all around the ship (they are little slip one ones - not ones with big animal heads on them or anything like that). we saw girls dressed up every night in sequins and high heels and others who wore knit slacks, while others wore skirts or shorts. flahagan Posted April 5, 2014 Author #71 Share Posted April 5, 2014 I thought it was nice to see so many people dressed so nicely most nights, guess it was due to so many Europeans on board. They made the guys in the worn, faded baggy jeans look pretty shoddy. Yes, a family seated near us wore these on gala nights. Didn't offend us, but I felt it made them look pretty bad. I'm pretty sure they were oblivious, though, as they each ate their way through 3 lobsters, lol!

During your video, there were these 3 guys sitting, all dressed up, and not looking happy, and then you scanned over to another area where these 2 guys were sitting with their wives in polo shirts, looking comfortable, smiling, and happy! I had to play that spot of the video a couple times for my wife!:D I've already used your video on entertainment on another sour puss reviewer who hated the entertainment! The nit pickers can't say much with your video proof!:D
