Holly2 Posted April 7, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2014 We booked a trip for May 2015 and need to purchase insurance within 21 days to cover pre-existing conditions. Does anyone know of a policy which is refundable if we cancel the cruise? We have read posts from people who only insure their deposit but can't find any that cover per-existing conditions if purchased within 21 days ( heard of one purchased within 15 days but the ship has sailed on that;). Any advice much appreciated. This is all incredibly confusing.

This is all incredibly confusing. This is from one Travelex plan: "If you are not satisfied for any reason, you may cancel your coverage within 10 days of your receipt of this document. If you haven’t already left on your Covered Trip and/or provided there has been no covered expense, you will receive a full refund of your plan cost. After this 10-day review period, the payment for this plan is non-refundable, except in the following circumstances: • The supplier cancels or changes the dates of your Covered Trip and all penalties are waived; or • You cancel your Covered Trip before any cancellation penalties are in effect; or • You have duplicate coverage for this Covered Trip or due to your death." Holly2 Posted April 7, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted April 7, 2014 If that means cruise line penalties, that would be perfect. Thanks so much.
Rare GeezerCouple Posted April 8, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 8, 2014 Contact the folks at TripInsuranceStore dot com. But after a quick look at the website (and before your eyes glaze over again!), CALL THEM. They'll walk you through it, and help you find the best policy. FYI, we get coverage that seems to be what you want. We first, within 21 days, insure any DEPOSIT, and then as we add more NON-refundable, payments for cruise, airfare, etc., we add the coverage for the additionals. So we are sitting on some rather small deposits, with the even smaller insurance for those, with nothing at all to lose for the deposits (IF we cancel before penalties), and only the small cost for a small fraction of the small deposit at risk. And pre-existing conditions are NOT excluded this way. Just make absolutely sure to tell Steve or the others that you must have the pre-existing condition coverage, and they'll make sure to find that type of policy for you. Holly2 Posted April 9, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted April 9, 2014 Thank you. I am awed by the expertise on this board particularly when contrasted with the misinformation we've been given when booking onboard or even from some TAs. Can't believe it took me so long to find this board. It was referenced in a thread on the Celebrity board. Great resource!
