Booked an H guarantee for the May 17th sailing on the Westerdam to Alaska

Had been checking my account daily and hoping something better would turn up and was prepared to wait until just before I left for a cabin assignment

Got an email today from my TA about an upsell to a V category cabin for $99/pp

Got a VA midship Deck 5 starboard! Pretty happy,think I did OK

I am a first time cruiser to HAL(actually went on a Med cruise in 2000 but couldn't locate my mariner number so was a first timer in their eyes) and a Seattle area resident

I wonder if that combo did it?

 

Yes you did well! HAL does seem to upgrade first timers often (we got a great free upgrade our first time on HAL) but I don't think living in the Seattle area makes any difference. All the upsell offers we have gotten have been laughable! But we have gotten nice free upgrades all but one time (doubt that living here makes a bit of difference though). ;)

We booked an outside guarantee on the Maasdam for the April 22 sailing. Can't wait to see what we get. When did you get your cabin assignments?

 

 

My last guarantee (last September) I got the assignment Friday before a Monday sail.

We are still waiting for our cabin assignment and we sail Tuesday. I suppose it doesn't really matter what we get. I just don't want to hang my formal gowns over the chairs on the pool deck...

Just got our cabin today - 11 days out. Booked an SB guarantee and as expected, got an SA (there are only 2 SBs on the ship).
