Capecodbeachfront Posted April 16, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2014 Never cruised the Western Caribbean so ports are all new to us. Since we will have 1 day in each port... Which ports would be best for each activity? Beach time? Shopping? Sightseeing? Ruins? Local color? Eating and Partying? Anything special at only one port? Thanks. mrsfuzzmo Posted April 17, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 17, 2014 (edited) Never cruised the Western Caribbean so ports are all new to us.Since we will have 1 day in each port... Which ports would be best for each activity? Beach time? Roatan or Costa Maya (Coz also fits) Shopping? COZUMEL Sightseeing? Ruins? Local color? BELIZE/Costa Maya Eating and Partying? COZUMEL Anything special at only one port? Thanks. Cozumel: Wandering town for eating, drinking, shopping. Beach clubs are also popular as is the dolphin swim thing and snorkeling. Belize: River Tubing and snorkel excursions. Roatan: Local color, nice beaches, snorkeling, Zip-lines. Costa Maya: Small town, if you want ruins, probably your best bet. xmansmommy Posted June 14, 2014 #6 Share Posted June 14, 2014 We did this itinerary last summer with our kids 10, 17. We didn't book any excursions through Carnival. Cozumel - Mr. Sanchos. We did the all inclusive beach day and liked it. We've also taken a cab to Chankanaab and sat on the beach and had just as much fun. It was much more crowded than Mr. Sanchos though. Belize - Cave tubing and ATVs through cave-tubing. com. The best excursion of the trip. They also offer ziplining. They pick you up in a bus and return you in plenty of time. Even the bus ride was fun. It includes lunch and snacks and drinks are reasonable priced. Roatan - Private tour through Victor Boden. Driver took us around the island, a very quiet snorkeling spot and to the company's place where the kids ziplined and we got to visit the monkeys. You actually get to go in the cages and they'll sit on your shoulder, head. Great fun and photo ops! Costa Maya - We went to the ruins and they were okay. If you have kids they may find it boring. Sat1 Posted January 18, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 18, 2016 Suggest you visit each of these ports in the forum, such as Belize, Cozumel etc, I enjoyed a our on Roatan that included a visit to a monkey "zoo." You walk into their cage, and they will jump on your shoulders. Great photo op.
Rare Keith1010 Posted January 30, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 30, 2016 There are ports of calls boards for each of these ports so I would post there too and also do some reading on them. Keith
jamminlion Posted August 27, 2016 #10 Share Posted August 27, 2016 Costa Maya: go to Maya Chan. It's run by American's, is all inclusive, and they limit the number of people per day. BEST Mayan lunch, and open bar. We had a great time there. Highly recommend. So much so, I want to book another Western just to go to Maya Chan.
