Taxi from Airport to Hotel

Hi everyone

Since I've gotten some great info reguarding hotels in a previous thread. I have another question to ask.

Is it possible to just get a taxi from the Louis Armstrong airport to the Hampton Inn & Suites Hotel on Convention Center Blvd instead of using a shuttle service. If so, do they run the meters or is it a fixed price negotiated up front?

Same goes from the port after the cruise directly back to the airport?

Any info greatly appreciated.

I think it is fixed price, but I haven't taken a taxi from MSY to near the Quarter since 2006 when I was doing restoration work after Katrina.

 

We were able to get them to run meters back then, and that price was not significantly cheaper, but it did save us a few dollars.

Fixed fare is $33 for one or two people, $14 for each extra passenger.

For the past 4-5 years it has always been a flat rate. No meter!! Prices quoted above $33 per couple sounds about right. It is the same coming and going.

Thanks so much for the info. It seems cheaper for a taxi than what I've been able to find for a shuttle. That's probably what we'll end up doing..

We just went a week ago and was a flat rate of $33 a couple. If you can share with another couple going to the port like we did it's $14 a person.
