kcr8 Posted April 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2014 Hey everyone! My family (my mother and three teenage sisters) and I (21) will vacationing on the breakaway in early July. We are super excited. We were all just wondering if there was anything we should know before our journey? Anything would help! jerseyralph Posted April 17, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 17, 2014 Hey everyone! My family (my mother and three teenage sisters) and I (21) will vacationing on the breakaway in early July. We are super excited. We were all just wondering if there was anything we should know before our journey? Anything would help! A wonderful family trip! You are going to love it. I am a mom with an about-to-be-21-year-old daughter. She has cruised a bunch, but not on the Breakaway. Her dad and I have been on the Breakaway twice. It is a favorite of ours. If she asked, this is what I would tell her: The smaller entertainment venues like Fat Cats and the Comedy Club are really fun. They are small and the musicians in them are usually very good. Howl at the Moon can be fabulous! Rock of Ages can be a bit, well, raw. If you know the story line you can imagine what kind of "raw". There were moments when I believe my husband would have been uncomfortable if our daughter had been with us. Burn the Floor is great. Second City is sometimes good and sometimes not. The dining rooms are generally good. The paid dining venues are very good. We would not hesitate to take the Ultimate Dining Package again. Le Bistro is great...... probably the best of the bunch. Our experience with room service for breakfast was good. Just put the order card on the door knob the night before. Continental only, but it works for me. Room service later in the day did not go well for us. They did not answer the phone for more than an hour and when we gave up and called guest services, who took the order, the wrong stuff was delivered. We never ate at the buffet on either cruise. We did enjoy O'Sheehans.... particularly at breakfast. It is also a great place to wait for disembarkation. Enjoy!

dexddd Posted April 18, 2014 #13 Share Posted April 18, 2014 Just off a few weeks ago. O'Sheehans has a bit of a different menu on the bar side vs. the restaurant side - some things you can't get on the bar side. The ala-carte Chinese place has great food but it is in the casino. O'Sheehans also had dinner specials many nights like Prime RIb. The buffet also had one Asian themed night and one seafood night with sushi. gizmo911 Posted April 18, 2014 #14 Share Posted April 18, 2014 Go to the activities in the Atrium (get there early for a seat) to enjoy watching deal/no deal, dancing with Breakaway stars, and others like this. You don't have to participate or spend money but can enjoy watching.

Valen9 Posted April 23, 2014 #16 Share Posted April 23, 2014 Go to the activities in the Atrium (get there early for a seat) to enjoy watching deal/no deal, dancing with Breakaway stars, and others like this. You don't have to participate or spend money but can enjoy watching. Bring earplugs or sit WAAAY in the back if you're going to do that. On my cruise they turned up the PA system in the Atrium to ear-splitting levels. It was even hard to find a place in O'Sheehans where it wasn't overwhelmingly loud.
