Which beach in Galveston?

We want to spend the afternoon at the beach the day before our cruise. Which beach or area should we go to in Galveston? We want chairs, umbrellas and bathroom since we will have a four year old with us. We know the beaches are not the Caribbean or Florida but it will be the grandsons first time so he will think its great. We do not want to go to Moody gardens and will not be staying in a hotel on the beach. Thanks!

I suggest Stewart Beach. It is at the east end of the island...and I think you have to pay to get in. They have everything you want and I think they have lifegaurds on duty (and that can be important in Galveston depending on the tides and how far out everyone likes to go).

 

Others who live in the area my have better suggestions...we don't get down to Galveston as much as we would like.

Stewart Beach is not the most beautiful beach in the area but it is generally clean, has bathrooms/changing rooms, a snack bar, umbrellas, etc, and is the most convenient.

 

It's where I would go if in your situation.
