Report of vision of the seas

Recommended Posts

Just off today. Had our first OS

FACTS: Balcony had 2 lounge chairs and 2 small tables. There were 3 of us in cabin. Requested 2 straight balcony chairs, but were told not possible. Brought us up 2 small kitchen chairs instead. The GS next to us had 2 balcony chairs with large round table--no lounge chairs.

Recieved cabin with dirty T shirt on balcony. Also a glass with water and a cigarette butt in it

First evening arrived at CL at 4:45pm and all seats taken. Overflow in Viking Crown for CL and DL. We were served our first wine at 5:30. Over 100 diamond members on board

Betsy Medrano is the CL concierge. The 3 evenings we spent at the Cl, she sat at the desk--did not circulate

Had trouble with the C&A coupons. Asked for the wine with 20% off but didn't go thru. Took 3 days to correct

Went to the Diamond Event and that was well done. Also went to the DL once. Very nice and not as crowded

Crew very friendly

Relaxed dress code in MDR. Quite a few men and women in T-shirts and shorts

Used guest relations several times to get printouts of our charges ( not available on TV) and never encountered long lines.

Loved the smaller ship

Gift shops well stocked

Good selection of books on the library wall

Pool area very crowded. Solarium was less hectic

Windjammer food was pretty bad. Park Cafe was good but was only open for lunch 2 days

Food and service in MDR very good (Repeat: WJ awful)

Bathroom in OS outstanding

Enjoyed our cruise

Sounds like a short cruise and a new crew still.

How was your cabin attendant?

The t-shirts and shorts in the MDR tells me that last year's maitre'd has moved on. She was a bit of a stickler for the dress code, which was fine.

Sounds like no change on tracking your room charges from last year.

Glad you had a good time, we're on in June!

Darkwolfe:

Our attendent came in to give us a clean cabin while we were out. So, the only time we saw him was in passing in the hall. He had 13 cabins to keep clean. I guess to busy to do more than he did---------------

I'm so glad you said the Diamond Event was good! We're going on the Vision with friends of ours who are Elite on X. We've been telling them how nice it is (their first time on RCI) so it looks like we shall not be disappointed. :D

I did not see a seperate line for suite guests @ guest relations

Also, about debarkation. On the Liberty, suite guests are escorted off the ship by Concierge, which is a great perk.

On Vision , Suites were told to meet in Chops @ 7:45. Betsy (CL Concierge) was there with a walkie talkie. When our time came to disembark, we all just walked out to the Centrum, where we came across a long line and "lotsa" people. So, no special line for suite guests

Enjoyed our cruise

We were on the cruise and had a different experience. Berylde we were on the port side, our cabin attendant was awesome and brought us a lounger the first night. Not sure if the deck size made a difference, we were in a GS which has a larger balcony then a OS. However, we did join some guests in their OS and the cabin is HUGE!!! Maybe one day we'll splurge.....

Also on the first night we did not go to the CL until 6:30 after the first dinner sitting, I heard we missed to crowd. Betsey greeted us at the door, asked us what we wanted to drink and quickly returned with our orders. After the first night the CL was not over crowded. We used Betsey to make reservations and check and printout our account balance, it sucks that you can't check it from your cabin. Betsey was at her desk at times but she did float around the room. I think she may have stayed at the desk more because the overflow was just outside of the CL.

We found the dining room service, a hit or miss - more of a miss. Breakfast was slow and at dinner the orders were not right. Food was slightly overcooked.

I agree that the Windjammer pretty much sucks!

I was surprised by the large selection of books in the library.

We had issues with the Royal Replenish package. My DH only drinks Pellegrino at home and although it's suppose to be apart of the package, the Vision never received their single serving sizes. But they did send a couple of large bottles to our room and provide a bootle at dinner. Also, it was sometimes difficult to get bottles of spring water from the bars due to the long waits. I tried to find spots without lines. Don't think I'll use the drink package again.

The liquor store on the ship was sparse compared to other ships, this was the first time I didn't buy alcohol.

Overall, we have a very good cruise, met many awesome people especially in the CL. We look forward to cruising with them again.

I think most of the hiccups were due the newest of the crew since this was only the second sailing since the Vision repositioned from Panama. The captain and his crew were very friendly and went out of their way to correct the few issues we had, which made a big difference. The executive chef came into to the CL looking for a guest and my DH joked with him about making us a cheesecake (my DH loves cheesecake), the next thing we new, a waiter was bringing us two mini cheesecakes which were awesome. We were pleasantly surprised! It the extra touches the make up for the miscues.

That is a bummer about disembarkment. I have been in a suite on Enchantment, Jewel, Oasis and Brilliance and had the option to meet go be walked down, through a separate exit. I have seen separate lines at Guest services on several ships. I wish they would all be consistent.

Also was the whole Viking Crown closed off for overflow?

Have to agree, we were very disappointed with the disembarkation process on the Vision.

IRISHGAL432;

The first evening when the Viking Crown was used as an overflow for CL and DL was not handled well. Anyone could use the Viking, as no one was checking cards at the 2 elevators. As a result, that was full by 5:15..

I think they were totally unprepared for all the Diamond and up guests. Way over 100. Things calmed down the rest of the cruise. But, that first evening was a zoo.

Once again, thank you. I can imagine that they were unprepared for all of the Diamond, and Diamond plus especially after sailing out of the US. I am not going until July 3rd so hopefully, they will get all of the kinks worked out .

Did they have breakfast and lunch options in the specialty resturants for Suite Guests?

Thank you for your input. DH and I are sailing Vision on 5/22. I booked us in a JS guarantee and was given an OS . First time in 10 years of cruising that I have been upgraded. We are looking forward to it. We have only had a full suite one other time and that was on Enchantment when we got a really great deal on the RFS with another couple. We usually get a JS if the price is right or balcony. It is a holiday weekend and it looks like the only the left are interior cabins so it is probably going to be a little crowded but at least we will be cruising

I wonder if the debarkation problems were partly due to that being the first docking at Pier 21? They had to use another one due to fleet week while the USS New York was at 21.

Anybody see Lenuta in the MDR? Gotta give her a hard time when we board in June. ;)

She is this season. I have a minor contact with one of the check in agents via "that social network website that shall not be named". That was how I found out. Got curious when I saw Legend over at 18 a few weeks ago and asked. :)

We left from pier 25, but did return on 21.

Don't think it was because of the different pier. It was an awful lot of people in the Centrum, converging thru 1 door--just took longer than I expected. Thought the suites were escorted off

They appear to be scheduled from now on at 21, at least for the next 2 sailings. I am sure the staff/crew are very happy about this as they thought they would be in 25 all season.

They told us we would be at 25 when arriving from Panama with busses over to 18 for customs, but then they brought Vision into 18 on the 26th April for a disastrous disembarkation. As in-transit passenger planning on spending day in Ft. Lauderdale mine along with about 100 others plans were ruined. Over 3 hours to clear customs with poor organization.

They brought us into 25 on the 29th and they embarked from there, but they made us disembark with walk up and out through 22/24 and also very poor with over 1 hour wait for wheelchair assistance. We were lucky as others had been waiting 2 hours.

Just booked Liberty from Barcelona next week and looking forward to having a perfectly functioning embarkation/disembarkation again.

It was "Fleet Week", with naval ships in port when we left on 5/3. We recieved an e-mail from RCL. "Don't come before Noon"

We were boarding by 12:30 at pier 25

Do not recall special breakfast and lunch options in speciality restaurants. However, in the Aquarius Dining room, for breakfast and lunch, there was a seperate area set aside just for Suite guests
