beberenn Posted May 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2014 Just curious, now that Im on my 3rd Free cruise from the casino...I usually loose, DH has won once, years ago on a slot $6500. What have you won on? How much did you when ? What were you playing?
SMSACE6 Posted May 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2014 (edited) I guess this doesn't count as big, but I have won 600.00, 500.00 400.00 and many smaller wins of 100.00 and 200.00. Anytime I win 100.00 or over, I put it away to take home with me, and have done so several times, all won at the slots, but I only play small denomination slots, with minimuns in, so that is probably big considering the investment. My memory is fading as to which ship and how much, but I think I have always either broken even, or taken some extra home with me, and the 600.00 was won on the last night of the cruise, so that was easy to hold on to:D Ships I have done well on were Sensation, Triumph, and Freedom. Not so good on Valor, but I didnt spend much time in the casino that time, and oddly enough my favorite, best cruise on the Liberty, I hardy won anything. I have a daily budget and I stick to that, otherwise my gambling budget would be blown on day two of the cruise:D Edited May 14, 2014 by SMSACE6
MicksMom Posted May 14, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 14, 2014 In Dec on The Triumph, I wonder $400 on Wheel of a Fortune (put $20 in) then 5 hours later I won $645 on one of the Black a Gold penny machines. We were on The Magic in April, had 1st time cruisers with us, he put $20 in a lucky 7 quarter machine & won $4263 off of $1.25. Honestly thought he was going to pass out. Pretty good when you can say your first cruise was basically free even after Uncle Sam gets his cut.

birdlgs Posted May 14, 2014 #11 Share Posted May 14, 2014 Just curious, now that Im on my 3rd Free cruise from the casino...I usually loose, DH has won once, years ago on a slot $6500. What have you won on? How much did you when ? What were you playing? Just returned off the Pride (Mother's Day) and I won $2000 and $1600 on one of the video poker machines against the back wall. I was playing Deuces Wild with 10 credits for a $1.00 denomination ($10 a pull). I also saw a woman hit $2000, $2000 and then $4000 on the SAME machine in about 30 minutes! She was playing Triple Bonus for max credits-$.50 ($2.50 a pull). She was playing the video poker machine furthest from the window against the back wall! It was a very lucky trip for me as I also hit 8 straight flushes and one three of a kind at the Three Card Poker table as well. Earned a free cruise but won't be going as I don't have the money to gamble :( !! LOL!!!

Chrisp414 Posted May 14, 2014 #14 Share Posted May 14, 2014 Would anyone care to share the names of the machines that they win on? I'm going on the Freedom 4/18 and would like to try and win for a change. If you don't want to share, I understand.

elainmir Posted May 14, 2014 #16 Share Posted May 14, 2014 How much do you need to spend in the casino to get a free cruise?? I love to play and usually go to Biloxi here at home but no "big" wins yet...
hartsnvt Posted May 14, 2014 #17 Share Posted May 14, 2014 (edited) I got a tip here on CC that I should go to the WOF $1 machine in the first hour the 1st night on Sensation. Played max $3 a pull and won $1000! Very happy with that and did all of my holiday shopping in Freeport and Nassau. I also hit a few hundred on the same machine later on , but the machines definitely got tighter each day so I gave back about $200. PS. Going on Sunshine, anyone have tips for that casino? Krissica Posted May 14, 2014 #18 Share Posted May 14, 2014 Hubby has won the iPad2 +$500 playing the "Cash Vault" twice now. He won it the first time on our very first cruise the first time he put a $5 bill in after watching people play it and lose. The second time we took the cash option instead of the iPad2 since we had already won it previously so we ended up walking away with $1500. It was nice! Sent from my SM-G900P using Forums mobile app I've heard (and who knows if it's true) that at the beginning of the cruise the slots are looser and get tightened up at the end. All I know is I won $640 2nd night and didn't gamble much after that. I knew I'd end up putting it back in and I didn't want that to happen. skidawg79 Posted May 14, 2014 #21 Share Posted May 14, 2014 On my first ever cruise with princess, I took $100 down to the let it ride table and hit four of a kind and then a full house on back-to-back hands and left with over $1800
sjcruiser Posted May 15, 2014 #22 Share Posted May 15, 2014 I've never hit it big, but I have witnessed those around me on the slots hitting jackpots of several thousand dollars. On two cruises it seemed to be people that never leave a specific machine, and are well known to the staff.
092306 Posted May 15, 2014 #23 Share Posted May 15, 2014 Friends we were cruising with won $5000 on Let it Ride. We've never won big in the casino, but win bingo almost every cruise. We are probably at over $2000 in bingo wins.

He told me the only way to "loosen" up or "tighten" up a slot is to change computer chip inside it and that isn't a quick change. They couldn't conceiveably change all those chips. When would they do it? It's not as easy as just flipping a switch in the back room. I have 2 slot machines in my basement and can't change any settings on them. This is correct, UNLESS....they're on a server based system. Several years ago, your cousin would be 100% correct....110%!! BUT, the industry has developed and it is in use in some places, server based gaming, where the casino can alter the "hold percentage," which is the amount the house keeps or holds as a percentage of money wagered. But typically the systems and the gaming commissions that have approved them, have certain requirements, such as the machine has to be inactive for a certain period (typically 4 minutes) and upon its reboot, must say it is rebooting due to a systems change. So can a casino make a machine looser today and tighter tomorrow? Yes, they can, if they have the installed technology and considering casinos do close down every night, they'd easily meet the software criteria of inactivity and rebooting. All that said, keep this in mind, all casinos have to have some winners, otherwise no one will play. So while one machine may be terrible, the one next to it might be the "looser" one, because if players never hear or see someone winning, it kills the positive vibe of the casino and overall play drops. So they may tighten them some, but they can't tighten to the point of never paying because then no one would be playing.
