RCCL Visa card reward redemption

After reading on their website about OBC redemption, I have concluded that the OBC can only be applied to onboard purchases, not gratuities. Am I correct? If so, this has changed since my last cruise in June, 2013.

You can apply it against on board purchases including grata

You get an onboard credit... and it can be used for anything that posts to your account onboard. That can be gratuities as well.

 

I love how easy it is to redeem now a days, a few years back it was a bit more painful. The only remaining annoying part is that they always split MY credit across the two accounts on the room, um, no, that's mine :)

In the times we've redeemed points for OBC, the OBC can be applied to any cost that occurred once on board, including gratuities. I've never known it to be different. Perhaps others have had a different experience.

if you do it online and select $250 single occupancy than it only is on your account. If you choose double occupancy it spreads to the other account.

Can be applied to tips as long as they aren't prepaid.
