1st time balcony question

Recommended Posts

Not child proof. They have a finger lock similar to an inside dead bolt lock. At least that has been my experience. I don't know if they offer any other type device to keep children off the balcony. Ask your room steward.

It's not childproof. Kids are very resourceful when they're determined to do something or curious. He might be able to reach it by using the table or stool in the cabin, but I wouldn't think he'd be without you in the cabin long enough to be able to accomplish that task. I would definitely discuss with him the dangers of the balcony and how he isn't to go out on it without you, etc so that you have the peace of mind that he won't try to get out there on his own at night.

I'm 6 feet, and the sliding locks is just above my head. It does take a little force to open it, so I think it may be hard for a 6 year old to open it, although not impossible. I would set the rules (no going onto balcony without me, or an adult, etc.) for going out on the balcony before sailing.
