psimon1210 Posted May 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 20, 2014 Which would be the recommended distillery for a Tequila Tour and tasting? How long is the tour? We have 2 teenagers in the group that are 4 days away from being 18 when we will be there. Will that be a problem? Many thanks... ---Paul in Southern NJ
Luka2014 Posted May 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 24, 2014 There are several Tequila tours in the island already... The one at Discover Mexico park is by far the most professional tequila tasting but there is also a few others under the brand Mi Mexico Lindo (Tequila Regalo de dios) thats very good quality and free. they have 3 locations: 1 at the El cedral town, another one on Transversal road towards the east side of the island just leaving town and the 3rd between the Harley Shop and the VillaBlanca hotel on the ocean front. Just 1000 yards away from International pier. and then there is http://www.haciendaantigua.com.mx/ this one has a charge and a drink included. also 3 locations... one at chankanaab park, one in town and one in transversal. Enjoy!
rlanting Posted May 26, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 26, 2014 It looks like there is a Tequila tasting or tour at the Chankanaab Adventure park. Is this tour or tasting any good? How about the park it's self, any information or pricing would be great.
pstone1 Posted May 28, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 28, 2014 Mr Sancho's has by far the best tequila tasting in Cozumel. They serve quality tequila and excellent food. It is a short ride from the Port. Where ever you end up, have fun and enjoy the Tequila!

There are, as others have pointed out, sites with tequila tastings. The Tequila Factory along the transversal road between San Miguel and the east side does have replicas of distilling equipment (it markets Hacienda Antigua), interesting videos of the process and at one time the proprietor was a real hoot to listen too. As far as your 17 year olds being able to drink, depends on whether or nor any barkeep in Coz will card them or not. I believe Mr. Sanchos, and Chank do card, probably Discover Mexico as well as it's affiliated with Chank. I doubt they would make exceptions for even a couple of days; licensing requirements, etc. The Tequila Factory may or may not depending on how old the boys look. Big teens that could pass for college students would probably be allowed, small teens or teens that appear very young for their age, probably not. I've seen the guy joke with tweeners about not being able to taste the tequila and ask grandmas if they're old enough, but its part of his spiel.
