The new MSC 'experience thing' - thoughts?

I don't know what to make of MSC's 'experience' categories. MSC's pricing strategies are overly complex already, why add another layer of complexity?

In short they are:

'Bella' = cheap and cheerful. Pay extra for everything. Lowest in priority.

'Fantastica' = the previous MSC 'standard'.

'Aurea' = Near the Spa and comes with the option of 'My Time Dining'

'Yacht Club' = luxury ship-within-a-ship concept, with concierge and butler

'Berlusconi' = invitation only, private restaurant, 'pillows and prostitutes' menu

Thoughts?

Hi Tim,

My wife always cruises with me so most likely the Berlusconi=pillows and prostitutes is a 'not in this life'!:D

These categories certainly devalue the base product -

Yacht Club - less deck space for the other passengers, no forward looking lounge

Fantastica - increases risk of undesirable dining times for Bella passengers

On the other hand, they might help with some of the complainers -

Want room service included -> book Fantastica

Want flexible dining times in the MDR -> book Aurea

I won't need pillows, tell me more about prostitutes. Will they accept my MSC club card? :)

If the prices for "Bella" are significantly lower than the standard fare now, I will be a VERY happy camper as I never use any of the "extras" anyway.

Sadly, I fear this will not be the case & it's just a way to disguise price-hikes...

I'd be interested in Aurea if the My Time Dining wasn't compulsory as I'm a traditionalist when it comes to dining but love my spa visits. Think it is most likely I'll go with the Fantastica if the premium is not too great as I like my room service brekkie.

YC, maybe one day but the cost versus a balcony is usually almost double the price on the cruises I've looked at. Prefer Musica class anyway.

I'll pass on the berlasconi!
