---One of my other favorite pictures. The ships almost look fake! But I guarantee you this photo was not edited in any way. Loved being able to peak down at the Liberty too... hehehe

Then just like that... our ride came to an end... we were in the air for I believe 15 minutes.. island is not that big so it goes pretty fast. The pilot warned us ahead of time that as we land, the helicopter shudders right before you touchdown.. glad he warned us cause I would have been like "what IS happening??"... he said he had a lady freak out on him one time and after that he started letting people know what to expect.

We took off our emergency packs off our waists, handed them back to the ladies running the desk, hopped back into the van for them to shuttle us back to the cruise ship center.

---uhhhh... yea... ummm... OUCH??.. 'NUFF SAID

I've been reading your Spendor review after going through your link from your current Glory review. I just got up to this point but have to comment on these pictures you got on the helicopter tour in Grand Turk. These are just gorgeous and love the different colors of the water and it's even better from the air. We were in Grand Turk, on Glory, in May 2010 and thought the colors of the water from the pier and the ship were spectacular. It is so much prettier from the air. I just looked and Carnival still offers the helicopter tour in Grand Turk and I'd love to do that the next time we get there. I love the pictures you got of the ships and it was so good to see Liberty from another perspective since we were on her in April 2014. On the helicopter tour, does everyone get a window? I'm guessing from the direction that the left side of the helicopter is best? I'm really enjoying this review and also loved your NYC pictures and sailaway and now hoping to continue with the rest.

Aww thank you so much! That helicopter tour was so much fun! They were still going when we were just there. Yes we each had a window.. mom sat up front, I was on right side and hubs was on left. a few times I just handed him the camera and told him to take pictures. lol. my mom got a good one too that she has on her computer.

GREAT review!! The Splendor will be a different ship for us when we sail with the same itinerary in June.

Your photos brought back memories, I cannot wait to be on those beaches.

Thanks so much for taking the time to do the review.

I just finished up the rest of your Splendor review and I really enjoyed it. I just can't believe this one was your first - it was so good and I love your writing style. And your pictures - spectacular. The sunset after leaving Nassau was beautiful the way you set it up and also sailing back into NYC. I'd really love to go on a cruise out of NYC someday just for the sights. We've been to GT once before & would love to get back and we LOVED HMC. The pirate ship bar wasn't built yet when we were there. We've never been to Nassau on a cruise but were at Atlantis for a few days in September 2010 and really liked it. The prices were outrageous though. So glad you're in the process of your Glory review cause I hated seeing this one end. Thank you for sharing and now moving on back to catch up with your Glory review.

What a great review, we have 44 days to go before we get on the beautiful Splendor. It was the longest winter and we are all so excited to set sail. Your pics of GT were amazing and it will be our first time there, what did you think of the beach in front of Margaritaville?? It looks to me that they have everything there, beach, pools, bar and food. We like yourself just stay on the beach the entire day, relax and enjoy the sun!!! How were the little shops and casino on GT. It looks really adorable. We also like the casino at night after we see the shows, dinner, etc... This is a stupid question but would you happen to have any pics of the casino or remember what slot machines they have in the casino? Loved your review and can't wait to read your review of your girls cruise, good for you!!! Hope you had a wonderful time and Happy Sailing!!!!

hi there! thanks for your kind words. :-)

Splendor is a great ship! I am sorry I do not remember what type of slots they had. except for the stupid frog prince one that kept suckering me in.. lol... with all the bonus spins etc.. heheh.. and pictures I always feel weird taking pics in the casino.. I think jamman has pics in his review for the casino possibly. worth a shot to check his out as well.

as far as GT goes.. M'ville beach front is always very busy. Especially if there are two ships in port. We did a cabana this time there and enjoyed that a lot.. but also skipped down to Jack's Shack down the beach..chairs, drinks, music and sun.. can't go wrong there.

I love the cruise center and all the lil shops.. its a nice port for sure.

Thank you for a great review. Also thanks to you and your husband for your service!

We leave in two weeks and one day - I guess you could say that I am excited. Read it all last night but it wasnt until May 28th that I realized the trip happened last year :o)

Again thanks for the great look at your fun vacation!

  • 2 weeks later...

So curious to here from all you cruisers who have been on the Carnival Splendor recently. My husband and I are going this Thanksgiving (Nov 2015) with our 11 y/o son and I am a little nervous after reading some of the comments from some people. Some are saying it's run down, & not much for the kids. Do you agree? Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated. This is our 1st cruise with Carnival, and I was disappointed in our last NCL cruise, so I am HOPING that this one will be better...

Thanks!

T:confused:

It is time for me to go home from work, but I'll try to read/see this next week. We were on the Splendor the 2nd week in April. I always have GOOD memories when I check out reviews of cruises that I have been to, down through the years.:)

After dinner, went to casino and met up with Splendidos again, drinks, snack.. some more drinks... you get the picture...

We finally hit our wall and decided to call it a night since we would be on land tomorrow!!!

All in all we had a pretty successful day of fun! Open cabin door and this lil guy was waiting for us... super cute! I never get tired of towel animals.

Yes, I agree, when you posted the picture taken from the helicopter of the Carnival liberty/Splendor, it DID look like a fake picture from the top of the ships. I thought that was the diagram, that looked so familiar.:)
