jgnova Posted May 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2014 We just booked JS 8032 on Grandeur for next January (our first RCL cruise since December 90!). We wanted port side since we don't smoke and didn't want anything wafting in from above or below. It looks like 8024 & 8026 are still open if there's any difference or reason to change. And 8542 & 8546 are also open if the other three are so bad to justify moving to starboard and risking smoke odors. So - are any in better locations to avoid the pool deck noise? Some pix of the JS show a pole next to the bed. Which cabins have that? Is it a problem? What about the view? Or corridor noise? Thanks - looking forward to driving to a cruise after flying to our last two (and getting caught in major snowstorms both ways on the last!). j
Clarea Posted May 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 23, 2014 We like to be aft of the Centrum on Vision class ships, under the Solarium. There is still potential for noise from above, things like rolling carts. However, our experience has been that the Solarium is less noisy than the main pool. leaveitallbehind Posted May 23, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 23, 2014 (edited) Just to be aware, the smoking side of the ship is not always the starboard side. On our recent Independence cruise it was the port side. However I think you should be fine with your port side selection on Grandeur as the starboard side was indeed the smoking side on our Grandeur cruise last July.
