MM051510 Posted May 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2014 My DH and I are going on our 1st cruise. We want to try to do as much as possible on our own (no excursions) to see shops and beaches! We're going on the Carnival Dream July 27th. Grand cayman, Cozumel, and Jamaica. My question is: how do I know which pier we will be docking at? I want to have a general location of what's around our area. Is there a place that tells me? Thanks!
Cruisin' Chick Posted May 26, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 26, 2014 What usually helps me is to find the official website for each port and then see if there's a cruiseline calendar. Often, if there's more than one berth, it'll list that info. Then you can use google maps and you can often see what's by the port. BTW, Jamaica has more than one port so you need to look at your itinerary.
sparky-elpaso Posted May 26, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 26, 2014 I like to check out the ports in Google Earth. Sometimes you can tell where you ship might dock because there's a ship in the picture. It can be better than a map because you can see buildings, etc., restaurants, etc. may be identified. I've decided we don't need any type of excursion in a few of the ports on our upcoming cruise because there's plenty to see where the ship docks. Rare Essiesmom Posted May 26, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 26, 2014 In Cozumel, you will dock at the Puerta Maya pier; Grand Cayman is a tender port, so you will not be docking. Can't say about Montego Bay, as I haven't visited there. EM
