Rangers Stanley Cup Games on Splendor 6/9/14 Sailing

Now that the Rangers are officially in the Cup final, I'm really concerned that the games may not be televised on the ship. Looks like games 3,4,5 & 6 will take place during this cruise. Two years ago, I was on the Miracle when the Devils played the Kings and two of the games were not televised on the ship.

Does anyone have any inside info on what broadcast stations the ship receives?

As a transplanted New Yorker Ranger fan who lives in Philly, I can't wait to be around my fellow fans while watching the games. I can only imagine how awesome it will be being around people that root for the same team that I do.

If they AIR on network tv they should be picked up on ABC, CBS, FOX, or NBC out of Miami Fl. If they are on ESPN, you should see them on tv in the sports bar

CBS, ABC, FOX and ESPN do not broadcast NHL hockey, NBC has the national TV contract with the NHL. That said however, it is unlikely you'll be able to see the Cup finals while cruising. NBC will show the finals on one of their other stations, like CNBC or NBCSN, which the ships do not seem to carry. Can't say with 100% certainty the Splendor won't have CNBC or NBCSN, maybe somehow they'll make an "exception" with the Splendor, or that the finals won't be broadcast on the "regular" NBC station, but it's unlikely.

Still basking in the glow from last night.:D A ranger fan in Philly...wow. Since the games will be on NBC (I think most will be there as opposed to NBC sports), you have a good chance. LETS GO RANGERS

Highly unlikely NBC pre-empts its prime time programing starting next Wednesday for the Cup finals, it's still hockey after all. Much more probable the finals are on one of the NBC sports networks.

Interesting..where was that schedule listed? Most of what I saw still showed TBD for TV....Then again, it IS New York...they do try and tap into that "tv market", even if it means showing hockey. BTW/FWIW I am a huge hockey fan and would think it great for the NHL Stanley Cup finals to be on prime time tv on a national network...even if it means showing the NY Rangers...:D:D

I grabbed it off of the NBC site, but I think I originally saw it posted on the post game show. The network boys are doing cartwheels with having it be the Rangers and either LA or Chicago. Only thing that would make them happier is for a 7 game series. We are the underdog and I like that.

Yea..those network boys do get stiffies when NY teams are playing in the finals..though I'd think they are pulling for NY/Chi final so it's closer to East coast time....I'm hoping for a Flyers west/NY finals...not a fan of those pretty boys in Chicago....

Ugh we leave on the Splendor 6/17 or one day before a possible Game 7. That would be brutal if we were unable to catch that game. A few years back a ship I was on was able to get NBCSN so hopefully that's the case this time around.

Or let's hope the Rangers finish it off before then.

Three points: One I would hit the sports bar day one on the cruise and make your case, and then funnel it up the line. Maybe even get it on the big screen. Two, NBC might move it to NBC if the ratings numbers were right. It has happened before. They could get a 10 share in the two biggest TV markets. Not a given but you never know. Three, I love your logic of your last line.:D

The games that are on NBC sports network will most likely not be aired on the ship because that is one of those specialty channels.

The games on NBC should be televised but I'm sure your best chance for a good signal will be in the sports bar.

I'm a big Blackhawks fan so I'd be wanting to see the games as well.

If you pony up for the internet, and are eligible, you might be able to watch them online. I think it's nbcsports.com. I did this with some of the olympic events in Sochi (not on the ship, mind you, but at home).

I have an app on my iPad for NBC sports that allows me to watch the games but I seriously doubt that the internet service on the ship will have enough bandwidth to handle streaming live TV. My NHL Game Center app allows me to listen to the radio broadcast, so my plan is to do that for games that aren't available on the TV. I have a big speaker that attaches to the iPad and will welcome other Ranger fans to join in on a listening party. Again, only if the bandwidth allows clear connections.

Here is our experience. When sailing during college football season, we've had mixed luck finding specific games on the ship. Sometimes we had luck in the cabin, sometimes in the sports bar or casino, sometimes nada. As stated above, where you will find a game depends on the channel the games are being shown on. Cabins have limited channels and even the other areas don't have every satellite channel.

We have found that the ships love to show anything and everything related to soccer, which I understand is widely loved internationally, but with the majority of Americans onboard many of these ships, most prefer their American football, baseball, basketball...and yes, hockey.

I suggest knowing the channels prior to boarding and once on board, check out your various options. :)

Ha, sore subject. Friend almost bailed on first day of cruise in key west when he found out the Rangers/Montreal series was not televised on carnival breeze. No NBCSN. Thought about leaving and then realized if he stayed on the ship he would have less drama from me. Unbelievable! I will never book another cruise during playoffs. Some sports bar when all they show is ESPN.

Go Rangers!!!

I would send a note to John Heald asking for it.

No sense asking John Heald about hockey. He is into basketball, which is convenient given that Arison owns the Miami Heat.

We have tried for years to have hockey shown in the lounges. Carnival has never acknowledged us so it begs to wonder why they ask for comments.

It should be an epic series. New York - Los Angeles is a dream final for the NHL.

I bet there is none of the na na na chanting going on in Montreal today.:D;)

This Habs fan is not happy :( But hey, at least we ousted the 'Ruins!

Sent from my phone. Typos are inevitable.
