Breakaway pier to LGA Transportation

There will be 6 of us traveling. What is the most cost effective way of getting us to the airport?

It depends on how much luggage the 6 of you have - assumed that use of mass transit option excluded in terms of being "cost effective" as it will involved a double transfer (taxi from pier to Times Square subway train, ride to Woodside/Jackson Height and free transfer (using MetroCard) on limited stops Q70 bus to LGA's terminal (unless you are flying out of Marine Air Terminal)

 

You will definitely need 2 vehicles, either 2 yellow taxi/minivan or 2 car service - 2 standard sedan or 1 minivan and a sedan. Both Dial7 and Carmel use Honda & Toyota minivans, possibly Nissan Quest - saw one yesterday, nice & new (sometimes Chrysler's Town & County) and they MIGHT fit luggages for 6 adults (since there is definite room for 6 passengers) if everyone has carryon sized suitcases & small personal bags, and can take some inside to store it.

 

Car service rates will run about $40+tips (possible EZ-Pass toll of $5.33) for a sedan and $50 for a minivan+tips. Taxi's metered rates will be similar depending on traffic/road conditions.

 

Four of us returned from the BA in late March & we managed to share a yellow taxi home (Ford Crown Vic's - full sized, V8-powered RWD ex police cruiser, with a huge trunk) back to N.E. Queens (past LGA by about 5 miles) - it swallowed (4) four 22" carryon suitcase + 2 backpacks & 2 oversized tote in the back with space for more. Came to a grand total of $52 & split among us.
