ruby32 Posted May 31, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 31, 2014 How difficult have people found it to get reservations in the specialty restaurants on Riviera for a table for two ?
brian_uk Posted May 31, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 31, 2014 We were just on Marina and found no difficulty getting tables for 2. There are many of them in each Speciality Restaurant. Brian
pacheco18 Posted May 31, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 31, 2014 Tables for two are more difficult to get than tables to share. If you are talking about making your on line reservations pre cruise, unless you are in a top suite and book first, you will have more flexibility with times if you are willing to share. Eg. Assume you prefer 7 pm dining: You may be able to dine at 7 if you are willing to share but if you want a table for 2, you might have to settle for 8. On board, if you want extra reservations, the more flexible you are the more you get to dine in the specialties. We NEVER ask for a table for two. We love meeting other people and sharing a table in the specialties is a great way to do that. We have plenty of opportunities to dine alone at home. dlouise Posted June 1, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 1, 2014 We made our reservations for the specialty restaurants last week for our August cruise. We were able to get a table for two for all eight nights. No problem at all.
canuck.qc Posted June 1, 2014 #5 Share Posted June 1, 2014 Never had a problem reserving a table for 2 either on the O or R ships. On a few occasions we had to change for a later time. I book as soon as the bookings open online at midnite+01.
JimandStan Posted June 2, 2014 #6 Share Posted June 2, 2014 How difficult have people found it to get reservations in the specialty restaurants on Riviera for a table for two ? To answer Ruby32's question more fully, it should be pointed out that there are several variables at work: A) Passengers make their reservations based on accommodation; Suite Passengers are permitted to book first, then Concierge Passengers, and so on. B) If your Itinerary is Port intensive, people are usually anxious to dine early, whereas if you are lolling around the Caribbean or sailing Transatlantic, later reservations become "the thing". C) On shorter cruises, particularly on those of less than ten days, the demand on the Specialty Restaurants is greater as the number of "guaranteed reservations" must be fulfilled in a shorter period of time. On longer voyages the atmosphere is more relaxed, and in fact, the Restaurant Captains sometimes go out among the passengers in search of patrons ;)
TERRIER1 Posted June 2, 2014 #7 Share Posted June 2, 2014 We are always in a B4 verandah and can reserve 45 days out. We have always been able to get a table for two. However, we dine late. The most popular seating for two are the earlier reservations and they may be problematic depending on your cabin category. We have found it is easiest to get a table for two on those days where the ship is in port very late. Many passengers dine off ship.
hrprof Posted June 2, 2014 #8 Share Posted June 2, 2014 If you have a butler, they are very helpful in getting reservations - while we were on Riviera, we had a 2 top at the window reserved at Jaques twice on a 2 week trip.
pacheco18 Posted June 2, 2014 #9 Share Posted June 2, 2014 Simply put, depends on the cruise. In my experience, reservations at 7/7:30 on sea days are the most coveted and it is hardest to get a reservation at that time. If you dine late, you probably will never have a problem. IF you are willing to share, things are way more open. We used to opt for the 7/7:30 time slot but we have come to learn that if we do that we miss evening trivia and we don't finish eating until 9/9:30. That's too late for us, particularly if we are getting up early for a day of touring. There are sometimes ways to get a table at your preferred time other than sharing. A butler may be helpful or a friend in the "right place." LOL
Rare LHT28 Posted June 2, 2014 #10 Share Posted June 2, 2014 Another consideration there are only so many 2 tops available If all they had were 2 tops everyone would want a larger table ;) We always book 6:30 or 7pm slots no trouble with a 2 top but we also do the sharing option part of the time
Cliff-FLL Posted June 3, 2014 #11 Share Posted June 3, 2014 We've done a number of cruises on O - some with lots of sea days and others port-intensive - and we've never encountered any difficulty with reservations for 2, possibly because we always make them well in advance of the sail date. However, even when we changed reservations/restaurants during the cruise, they have always managed to accommodate us without a problem. (Wouldn't suggest trying it at La Reserve, though.)
