How strict are boarding times on Carnival Spirit?

Our boarding time is 3.30pm but we arrive into Sydney at 11am. Does Carnival allow you to board earlier than your allocated time?

Yes they do........I would head directly to the pier from the airport. At worst you will get checked in and have to sit in the terminal for a period of time before boarding begins, but I prefer to be all checked in rather than wait until the last minute.

I always have some snack bars and water with me, so that if boarding is delayed I have something to eat without having to leave and go out somewhere.

By the time you collect your luggage and shuttle to the port cruisers will already be boarding. The 330 time is Carnivals way of trying to keep the lines to board smaller. They email and even as we recieved in our documents a Carnival prefered boarding time.
