Mytime2014 Posted June 1, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2014 I haven't even gone on my 1st cruise yet and already thinking about the next one. I'm near San Antonio and thinking of cruising out of Galveston/Houston unless parking is more than airfare/transfers to Florida. My first cruise will be on a HAL ship in 34 days!!!!! I know the ships out of Galveston are much larger and busier.... I would avoid school breaks, look at fall/winter, likely be alone and either a 5 or 7 day would fit. I don't need to be entertained all the time and I want food that is consistently better than IHOP or Chili's. The other thing that is somewhat important [and I don't know why] is a forum that is not constantly contentious. What cruise line would be a good fit? Where do I even start? I discovered that I have TA benefits through my bank and that is an option - vs finding a TA who specializes in cruising and would help me find the right cruise. Thanks - I look forward to the ideas and planning my next one. Debby

Glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic! Kat Thanks for the info - especially the CC guides. Everyone has a different idea about which line....and dang its expensive to cruise as a single!!! I do know the TA rules and wasn't fishing for names, just wondering 'out loud' if that's better than going thru the cruise line. I put the word out to some friends who cruise and they are going to give me some info on that front. I will also start reading the reviews/forums on the ships that sail from Galveston/Houston and see what seems to fit my personality.
