Stateroom question????

"Better" is in the eyes of the beholder.

Down lower is more stable in rough seas. Besides that, the view of the ocean is closer, so you can really see the wave action.

Higher up has a view that's more expansive. Oh, and that's where the balconies are, if you're interested in having a balcony.

It depends on so many things! What do you want to see/do/experience? There is also the consideration of forward/aft/midship as well as inside/outside/verandah stateroom. Are you happy with no view? Do you want an oceanview or ability to step out onto a verandah? If you're not particular, you may wish to book a "guarantee" cabin with the possibility of an upgrade. Some people are very particular and others feel that they are willing to take their chances, any cabin being OK. If you're sensitive to noise, for example, you may not wish to be above/below the show lounge, casino, etc. Good luck. Have a happy, enjoyable cruise no matter what you decide!

I was on Deck 2 midship. I didn't feel the waves as many did higher up on our first night. You can always find a nice spot up high to sit and relax.

I prefer low staterooms and being out on either the promenade deck or the Lido deck for the view -- because that way I'm not restricted to just one side of the ship, I can dash between both sides on the open decks and get the whole view.

But I will say that when we sailed out of St. John, NFL, there were icebergs in the harbor and the people in the lower cabins were at eye level and got a much better view of the colors and detail in the icebergs than those on the upper decks. And I found it was easier to pick out the whales we shared the journey with from my stateroom window than it was from up higher.

Just got off Westerdam, we decided to upgrade to balcony. (Kinda have mixed feelings about it) I loved having a balcony, as soon as I woke up, I would open the curtains and everyday(except sea day) saw a whale, sea otter, or sea lion. And I loved looking at the scenery. But as soon as I looked outside, I would want to know what was on the other side ship. Most of the time we weren't in the room. Except sleeping and getting ready for the day. I almost would of been fine with an inside room. We were on level 6 upper verandah. I would of liked to be closer to the water, having a verandah, allowing me to get better pics of sea lions, and sea otters(which are everywhere). Most of our time was on the lido deck, allowing me to pace back and forth trying to miss something. I highly recommend going to the crows nest when at glacier bay, they pointed out a lot of animals I didn't notice(such as bears and goats) Also the day at sea is pretty rough, I spent most of that day in the casino(because it's in the middle at the bottom of the boat). But after that day, the water was smooth.
