It's a Ship!!! Posted June 4, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 4, 2014 I just thought I would post about something that is really cool that I hadn't read on here. If you are sailing on the Elation out of New Orleans leaving on a Saturday, or on the Dream out of New Orleans on a week when the Elation is leaving on a Saturday, then you will be able to see the ships pass each other on the Mississippi river. We were out on one of the secret balcony areas on the last night of our cruise on the Carnival Dream looking at all the traffic on the river when we saw the whale tail in the distance. The Elation was coming towards us but it was still pretty far away. We decided to go down to lido to get another drink and then go back to watch them pass. Unfortunately they were going a lot faster than we thought so they passed when we were ordering our drinks, but we still got to see them from the lido. All of a sudden the ship tilted slightly to starboard and we just see the Elation zoom past us. So if you happen to be going on one of those ships during that time, go out on deck as far forward as you can and watch the ships pass. It was a really cool unexpected bonus that capped off the cruise just right.

LostPuppy Posted June 5, 2014 #10 Share Posted June 5, 2014 This is nice to know. We're doing a B2B on the Dream in August and it looks like we would meet the Elation heading out Sat night as we head in after the 1st leg.

aunt2b2003 Posted June 16, 2014 #19 Share Posted June 16, 2014 I travel to southern Louisiana to deliver parts and get to watch the cruise ships come up the river towards the port sometimes during my deliveries. It's pretty amazing to watch from land and I cannot wait to get the opposite view from the Elation in September.
