Carnival Gift Card - 10% Bonus Offer

Recommended Posts

You only lose the bonus card within a certain time frame, but for a September cruise you'll be fine either way. You can use your remaining balance on board, but I don't think you can add it to your s&s account beforehand.

You can't add it beforehand. Called Carnival today and was told I had to add the balance remaining on my gift card after I ordered ship excursions at Guest Services. Tried to explain I didn't want to wait in a line to do that. But she said that was the only way after she put me on a brief hold to check with her supervisor.

I am planning on purchasing enough gift cards for my small casino habit...like $800 or so. My understanding is that after I apply the gift card to my account, I can use my S&S account to purchase "chips" in the casino.

My question is this, will I have any trouble cashing out my chips?

I have the same question. It also helps avoid carrying cash as I travel to the ship.

There used to be a work around.

IIRC in the 'who to send it to' box you'd put your confirmation number.

Someone will be along shortly to confirm this. (Or say that this is bunk)

Thought I would share. If it hadn't been for kind folks on the forums I would never have known about the offer. Thanks to all of you for posting for us newbies!

Hi, Cathysue. Welcome to Cruise Critic!

I wholeheartedly second your thanks for this tip (that's how I learned about the gift cards) and for the many others that I continue to learn through Cruise Critic. These folks have a wealth of information that they generously share. They are the best!

Happy sails.

Kathy

Can the gift cards be applied through an on-line travel agent to Carnival or do I somehow have to get the travel agent to work with Carnival to receive the payments?

The deal works just fine through a TA. If it is the first time your TA has dealt with this' date=' it might take some time as he/she learns the system, but there will be no problem. That was my experience.

Any Non US citizens having the same problem as we are , it does not recognize our UK post code, and shows as an invalid ZIP code, is there any way around this . thanks Iain

Hi SamAdam, I ordered cards (from Canada) and used my TA address in the US. Not sure if that will help you if you are in the UK. Maybe just use a US zip code and do the ecards

Just purchased my e-card. Received the card, when does the promotional email come. These things make me nervous.

I ordered 2 egift cards on separate days. Both times my promotional card came in the overnight hours (midnight and 5am ET). And I do mean midnight AND 5am ET. I received 2 emails for the card but the number is the same on each. The second day I ordered around 8 in the morning and it still do not come until overnight. So don't get worried about it unless it doesn't arrive by tomorrow morning.

I'm fuzzy on some of the rules. Even if you're not a casino player - and even if your projected S&S balance at the end of the cruise is minimal - what would stop you from - hypothetically - Buying a $3,000 gift card, that will come with a $300 promotional card. Adding $3,300 to your Players Account in the casino. Cashing out the $3,300 at the cashier's cage. Basically, this would allow you to walk away with cash and gain 10% on your money, even if you have no intention of spending that money with Carnival. What am I missing?

Thank you.

I am trying to find out the same answer. I do plan on playing at the casino but wouldn't mind having extra money to use elsewhere on the ship.

Good question. I just think the promotion let's carnival have a cash infusion with their expectation being that most people will use to pay off their cruise. I dou bt the majority of people have thousands lying around. Also if they charge the gift they may never see free money as they will be paying interest on the credit card which is usually more than 10 percent

I have a cruise in two weeks. Maybe I should buy several thousand dollars worth and do this. Heck, I might even be home before my credit card statement arrive.

I have bought these and put in any state and any US zip code. Got my egift cards in my email almost immediately. The freebie one's didn't arrive until 5am and 10am (UK time). Good luck! It took me ages to work around this!

Glad to hear this worked out for you, because I'm having the same problem. Ordered one and used it no problem; bought a second card and keep getting a "zero balance" message when I try to use it. I'll wait another day before contacting guest services; hopefully mine will go through eventually like yours did.

Just to update, all four cards (purchased and promo) eventually went through. I received a total of ten emails over the course of three days, lots of errors trying to redeem, but in the end it all worked out. :)

quick questions before I buy this gift card. I just want to make sure I am reading the promotional rules correctly.

The e-gift card will expire a year from the purchase date correct?

So if I have a balance owed of like $1200 for my January cruise I can buy $1200 worth of e-gift cards, use the cards to pay off cruise and I will have another $120 card I can use for onboard expenses.... Correct?

Trying not to end up in the dog house by screwing something up:D

The gift cards never expire. The promo gift cards expire December 31st 2014

Edit: according to this post e-promo cards expire a year from purchase while physical cards are the ones that expire in December http:// http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=43087414

ok thanks. Probably the best thing will be to use up the 10% promotional card balance first just to be safe as my cruise is not until January.

I've put in all my info to purchase, it doesn't say anything about the promo card. I read on CC it's 'automatic' -- it that correct? Do I get the promo amount in an email?

If you ordered your gift certificates digitally (e-card), yes it will come in a separate email. Mine came the next morning.

If you ordered physical gift cards to be snail mailed, you will get your promo cards separately in the mail.
