Squidward Q Tentacles Posted June 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2014 Couple of quick questions for you. How much wine was available, did they limit you on how much you could drink? Did the attendees drink much wine?
sebas030 Posted June 11, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2014 When I did the Chef's table on the Star, it was unlimited :D Some drank only a few sips from each wine to experience the pairing....and some drank much more :p When we finished dinner, they escorted us to the bar near the venue we were and they offered an other drink from the bar...one men sitting just besides me missed the armrest of his chair when he sat and ended on his knees on the floor :p .. it was funny but a good indication of how much we had.... good thing is we didn't need to drive back home :D . nets33 Posted June 11, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 11, 2014 Agree with sebas030. Wine was offered as much as you wanted to drink. No limits. If you prefer red over white they will pour your just red. Enjoy!

ColinIllinois Posted June 11, 2014 #9 Share Posted June 11, 2014 Couple of quick questions for you. How much wine was available, did they limit you on how much you could drink? Did the attendees drink much wine? All I will add to the discussion is that apparently it's considered tacky to bring your own travel mug for the wine. Who knew? ;)

sweetpea143 Posted June 12, 2014 #12 Share Posted June 12, 2014 We're booked on the 4 night cruise on Sky over NY in a suite. Last time we were on the Sky was 2009. We've always enjoyed suites on NCL. We're looking at booking the 4 night dinner package, but now see that the NCL website shows a Chef's Table dining event. The questions: (a) How can I book the dining event? (2) The Dining Package doesn't include the Chef's Table, so will be given a comparable credit? and (3) What if one of us has purchased the UB drink package and isn't wine paired with each course and included in the meal? We have only 1 adult out of 3 who will buy the drink package because the other 2 won't drink, so we're trying to figure out what will work best. Thanks! You probably can add a request through pre-cruise concierge desk, but the reservation itself can only be done onboard - in your case easiest to do it through the concierge. On our last week's cruise on Jade, Chef's table was sold out during the lunch on embarkation day (there were four people in our party that attended and it was already almost half booked when they signed up). 2) Chef's table is not covered by the speciality dining package, so no refunds there. Honestly I can't see any point of getting UDP on a four day cruise if one will attend Chef's table. 3) Wine is included in the price of Chef's table. P.S. If all 3 adults are sharing the suite, then all need to get the UBP. It is not possible to get it only for one person and not for the rest in the same cabin. NayRN Posted June 12, 2014 #14 Share Posted June 12, 2014 Every time I've gone.....I've stumbled away feeling no pain....:o And when I found a particular wine that I really enjoyed, they continued to refill my glass with that one only. Also, after dinner we were all given a cocktail of our choice from the bar. Yup....I was think the seas were really rough as I kept bouncing off the walls walking back to my cabin....too bad the waters were smooth as glass!!! 🍷
Tyskie Posted June 12, 2014 #15 Share Posted June 12, 2014 We have attended the Chef's Dinner twice, both times on the Dawn. Great food, yes, free flowing wine of your choice. I only drink white :p Started with a glass of champagne, wine with dinner and an after dinner drink. Wonderful opportunity, delicious menu. Hoping that if we have a chance to do it again - a change in menu.:)

Not cruising much this year, our oldest son is getting married in August. We have a 4 day Sky cruise booked in November, thats about it. Took a Carnival cruise last year which was a nightmare, they delivered Jane's suitcase to the wrong room and the knuckleheads (drunks) in the room kept it the entire cruise. So she had no clothes, makeup or toiletries for the 7 day duration. Glad to be back on NCL this year.

Rare CTCruiser001 Posted June 12, 2014 #20 Share Posted June 12, 2014 We did it a bit different at the end of our Chef's Table. After a night of drinking lots of wine, we collectively asked the f & b manager about skipping the after dinner cordial. Instead, we were able to get specialty coffees (anything listed the menu) from the Java Cafe the next morning when we met in the Atrium at the start our tour of the galley which was included with the Chef Table offering. I had an Irish coffee spiked with Baileys - Yum! We felt that worked out so much better vs. the heavy drinking all in a few hours. At the same Chef's Table, we ate with a family that did not enjoy wine. The f & b manager was more than happy to provide them with cocktails of their choice. Even the young teens were provided virgin cocktails all night long - one after another! At one point in the evening the f & b manager allowed each of us at the table to have a cocktail of our choosing - I was able to get my favorite, a Mudslide and my DW enjoyed her BBC. It was a really enjoyable evening! :D
