LindaM Posted June 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2014 Can they be used in the Casino? Can those given by the TA be credited back to us the last day? I doubt if it's possible for us to use $1200, now that we have Explore4. We also had to purchase a Shorex ahead of time, because it was filling up. Am I going to have to buy jewelry again????? Clothing could work.....
Rare POA1 Posted June 11, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2014 Read this post. The same basic concept should apply but you are using your OBC. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=41756367

Clothing could work..... We had a similar situation with our Antarctic Holiday Cruise last year...$900. Each time the fare dropped we were given ship board credit We booked all our excursions ahead of time to be sure we got our first choices. A large chunk went to the auto tip. I donated money for the On Deck for a Cause walk. I did a cooking class, enjoyed wine by the glass at dinner(it was a 21 day cruise,) extra wine tasting and bought souvenirs for the granddaughters. I made a modest amber purchase in the jewelry shop, something I ordinarily wouldn't do. We did have to buy Internet time on board, which does add up (almost forgot about that!) DH made good use of the minibar, and in the end we had a final bill of $12, and we got cruise credits for the OBC! It was a lot of fun to spend, and I frequently stopped at the Front Desk to check my statement. Treat yourself!:) Karen Edited June 11, 2014 by Loreto more info
LindaM Posted June 12, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted June 12, 2014 Thanks so much for the suggestions and especially the link! It is fun to have the OBC to splurge on something one wouldn't ordinarily do. This time, I think I will try the casino trick. The only reason we will have so many OBC left is because I probably made a big mistake and didn't get a price on the cruise without Explore4. I just don't remember and could be getting confused with the cruise we cancelled. Oh well---we'll have fun with that. Normally I won't buy soda's or specialty coffees!
