Debating What to do in Cozumel

Hey, there! We're headed on our first cruise in five years next week, and stopping in Coz. The last time we were there, we went out on our own to Chankanaab and snorkeled. It was great. I've read that the park has gotten more commercial as of late; are there some other good places to snorkel/ eat/ enjoy the peace and quiet of leaving two kids with Gramm in Texas (one was our "souvenir" from the last cruise...)

 

We don't drink alcohol, which has us kind of looking away from AIs. That said, if there was a great one that made up for the cost of the AI sans booze, we'd be fine with it.

For great snorkeling from the shore without the admission fee at Chank you should look at the Money Bar - good facilities (lockers, etc.), rental gear & guides if you need them, along with great food/service/drinks. No real beach (you enter the water via steps) but there is a sandy area for sunning and relaxing after you snorkel.

 

Lots of snorkel tour boats use the same area - a brightly colored t-shirt or rash guard would be something to remember, just in case the boat drivers are not paying attention.

 

Taxi from the piers will run about $9-10+tip each way for up to 4 in a cab.

We love Money Bar. But we also don't find chankanaab to be overly commercial at all. The entrance fee is high though, which is why we don't care to go there again.
