Video: Norwegian Pearl & Jewel in Juneau

Here's a time-lapse video I shot in Juneau, Alaska, today as the Norwegian Jewel and Norwegain Pearl traded places at the dock.

 

There were a lot of cruise ships in port and not a lot of available dock space... so they had to time things so that they could share a spot. Norwegian Jewel was the very first ship to arrive in the early morning... and left about 2 PM. Norwegian Pearl sat patiently until the space became available.

I shot this time lapse video on my HTC One cell phone using the DT Pro app. In looking at the video, you would almost think I shot it in black and white... except for the colorful hull art on the ship and a little bit of green in the hills in the background. No, it was just a really gray and rainy summer day in Juneau! That's exactly how it looked in person.

I grew up there. When I was a toddler and started drawing pictures with crayons, my parents discovered I thought the sky was grey and clouds were blue.

Cool! I've been on several NCL ships as they made the 'trade' at the dock with the other NCL ship. Fun to see the 'video' of it. Thanks!
