Suite allocation

Travelling with SS for the first time in a week's time. At the TA's suggestion and against our usual approach when sailing Seabourn, we opted for booking on a guarantee basis. With just 7 days to go no suite allocated yet and understand it might possibly not be till the day of sailing. Is this closeness of timing typical and has anyone actually had to wait till they turn up for embarkation? If so how did that go?

You could be surprised with an upgrade to a suite more expensive than the category you booked. It has happened. In any case, no Silversea suite is bad. It's quite possible you will not get an assignment until embarkation, but I certainly would not worry if I were you.
