i think they posted on facebook the currency will be AUD and no tipping

Yes, AUD for the Aussie start/finish cruises - not sure about the trans ones.

Yes, Aussie dollars. I was told by the rep that the transpacific sailings to and from Hawaii will have AUD onboard as well. Beyond Hawaii (as she returns to the US), she will revert to USD.

Not quite the same. The Spirit's transpacific from HNL to SYD was USD. The Legend's will be AUD in both directions. Spirit is permanently AUD, whereas Legend will revert to USD once she leaves HNL bound for US and will change back to AUD again once she leaves HNL bound for SYD. :)

Spirit is only AUD because she's permanently here, so that's the same. Legend is the same, and permanently AUD while she's here. If/when Spirit leaves to the US, she would also revert to USD.

 

It's not correct that it's AUD in both directions. The situation is the onboard currency matches who controls the cruise. The same as for Spirit, Legend's first transpacific trip to Sydney is controlled out of the US office, so it will be in USD.

 

So, it is the same arrangement. The only difference in individual cruises is that a subsequent cruise in 2016 from HNL to Sydney is run by the Australian operations. The same rules about onboard currency apply. If you book through Australia, the onboard spend is AUD. :)
