Just got the call!!!

The upgrade fairy just called for my July, 5 day cruise. She wanted to know if we wanted to move for our lido balcony to an empress OS. I asked how much and she said $400 and it's just DH and myself. I think that's a little pricey for only a 5 day cruise. Don't you?

Yes. That doesn't seem like much of an inducement.

We were called by the upsell fairy (first time ever) and offered to move down 2 decks to a balcony suite for $500. She made a long spiel before mentioning the price. The drop in 2 decks was a material element for us. By the time she had finished listing off the "benefits", I had landed on a total cost of $200. Her price was $500.

I said, "As you've been talking, I've had a number in mind and you weren't even close". That was the end of that.

We just got the call for our June 29th cruise. We are moving from Ocean Suite to Grand Suite. Since there are 4 adults I think it was the right move for us. And this is our first cruise and probably our only. So decided to go big. Excited!

It's fun to get the call, even if you turn the offer down, isn't it?:) I've gotten the call 3 times, took the offer twice (both times went from a balcony to an OS).

OP, I agree with you, that offer did not sound so great. I would have turned that one down, too.

I probably would have taken it if it was like maybe 200, I just think 400 on only a 5 day is a little high. Or, if my kids would be with us I think I would have taken it for the extra room in a OS.

Just got off phone with DH and he agreed with me too.

This may be a dumb question but if it were 2 people (mom and dad) only booked and you got an offer to upgrade to a suite can you then add more people to the booking (kids)? I wonder how that would change the price?

I wouldn't take it. We don't spend THAT much time in our room. Now if we had kids traveling with us that would be a different story.

I agree, I think rooms are over rated. All I do is sleep and change in them.

OP: Agree that is too much!

You will be very happy to have that extra room & bigger balcony!

Yeah we've all said that to ourselves before. You'll be back.

I would think we would have to pay what it would have cost for a 3 and 4 on the balcony room. Then just pay the extra 400 for the OS.

We were offered an upsell from our extended balcony to a Grand Suite for $700. I turned it down but a couple of times on the cruise there were times I wish I had moved. Now that we are home I am glad I sill have my $700.

We got offered 400 to move from a balcony on the upper deck on the victory to an ocean suite...weird they could only move you to another balcony...I hope you didn't take that!

It was to an OS on the empress deck. We are on the lido in a regular balcony room.

Got that same call today and turned it down. The only thing I wish we had in the balcony that the suite had was a frig and more closet space, balcony larger. I can do a lot with $400.

I paid $700 to upgrade to an OS. I have received calls before and I don't think I have ever taken one before. We had an oceanview. Riveria Deck. By midship elevator, and I was pretty happy with it. The price we paid was a casino offer, not one of the big ones...a 40% off of Fun Select Rates.( which are high as all of you know) but it was still a very good rate. And I caught the OV at the lowest price. It cost us a little to get midship...Then they called.

It was a suite. Never had one. It is an 8 day cruise. We have 4 sea days. My husband likes to sit out and watch for fish and things. Old Coast Guard Reserve guy. Just likes the ocean. I was still below $2,000 after the upgrade to a suite. So I decided to get a suite for once. I hope I made the right decision. $700 is a lot of money. But the extra room, I hope extra closet space, bigger shower will that make the difference? I will write a review when I come back. Was it worth it or not? I have enjoyed reading the reviews I have read about the Liberty.

I so hope we fall in love. It is dh that thinks we won't. He says this is our one cruise. He never wants to do the same thing twice. We will see. :)

That's a lot of sea days to enjoy your balcony and the extra room is great. I got a great deal for our Glory Sept. premier cruise and am surprising my DH with the captains suite. Really looking forward to that space and he will have his own full bathroom!!!
