roger001 Posted June 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2014 (edited) Because we fly SWA, we always fly into FLL. We stay at one of the FLL area hotels that have a free airport shuttle. Then we use SAS shuttle service the next morning to take us to the port. SAS charges $15 pp. SAS also has shuttle service from the port back to FLL. We've found the Extended Stay hotel on 17th st to be very nice , not too fancy, but more reasonable priced than some others. You can book SAS on line and they will respond with confirmation and instructions. The hotel also has free shuttle to and from the airport. http://www.ridesas.com http://www.redcarpetinns.com/
LrgPizza Posted June 24, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 24, 2014 SAS will also transport from FLL to Miami hotels, if you want to stay there instead, then catch a cab or hotel shuttle to the port.
Taylor95 Posted June 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted June 24, 2014 We flew into Fort Lauderdale when we sailed Epic out of Miami. We got a rental car one way & dropped it off in Miami. The rental company then had a shuttle that took us to the cruise port. It was an easy drive & depending on how many are in your party, could be a cheaper option. DrNora Posted June 24, 2014 #6 Share Posted June 24, 2014 It is easy- do it!!! We use FLL because the airport is smaller and less chaotic than the MIA, SWA flies to FLL SWA has FREE LUGGAGE SWA is CHEAP SWA has 15 flights a day for us The trip is not complicated at all. Sometimes we stay in FLL overnight, sometimes in Miami. Your choice. Save money have fun!!
TravelDiva88 Posted June 24, 2014 #7 Share Posted June 24, 2014 I prefer to fly into FLL (Southwest!) and then spend the night in Miami pre-cruise. SAS is reasonable, there's also public transit that's not complicated but it does take time.
brookie848 Posted June 24, 2014 #8 Share Posted June 24, 2014 When we cruised in January, we flew into FLL and used QLS to take us to our hotel in Miami. The next day we took a cab from the hotel to the port. QLS was great to deal with -- we did a private shuttle from the airport to the hotel (there were six of us arriving on two different flights). Going back to the airport, we just used the regular shuttle. They were prompt and I would definitely use them again. The only issue we had with FLL was the lack of services -- simply because it was a smaller airport. There were not a lot of choices for food if you are going to be waiting a while for your plane and they were all extremely crowded the day we were there. However, this would not stop me from using the airport -- more of just an FYI.
