blue_crystal Posted August 6, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2005 What is the best option for getting myself and my luggage to the pier in NYC? Flying into Newark. Is there a shuttle there, or is it generally a taxi trip, and how do I make sure not to be ripped off? I've heard stories..

cruisr Posted August 7, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 7, 2005 Hi, You will not get ripped off at Newark Airport as there are taxi dispatchers who ask your destination and give you a card with the rate on it. The only thing additional is tip and tolls. If you are going to the pier from EWR you will have a toll on the NJ Tpke of about $1.00 and then the Lincoln Tunnel Toll (which you have to pay roundtrip as the NJ hacks are not allowed to (legally) pick up in NYC. There is a monrail at EWR to the NJ TRansit/Amtrak station at EWR. You can take the train to Penn Station in NYC (34th & 8th AVe) and then take a cab to the pier which should be about $5.00 - $6.00. Of course, with baggage it may be a pain BUT I always take the train to the ship in Southampton (from Waterloo) and I manager OK with the baggage. Good luck and bon voyage
