Recent Bermuda travelers....cash only in port?

Recommended Posts

I've read a few reviews that have mentioned cash only for renting chairs & umbrellas at the beaches, for lunches ashore, buying transportation passes, etc. For expensive things as well like renting jet skis or a boat I will need cash? I'm trying to figure out just how much I need to bring because we are not cash people usually. I'd rather throw everything on a cc and pay it off afterward. Please advise. Thanks.

For concessions and such at Horseshoe Bay, we used cash. For the transportation passes, we also used cash. (For those it doesn't mean they don't take c/c, we just didn't use it).

For renting motorbikes, we used an AmEx and for renting a jet ski, we used a Visa (they didn't take AmEx).

Bringing cash for Bermuda is a big tip that can't be overstated. Major purchases will work fine with credit cards, but smaller excursions like a glass bottom boat may only accept cash. There a guy in a van who will drive you up heart attack hill (or whatever it's called) at Horseshoe beach. He doesn't take plastic.
