Starboard or port side for Florida/Bahamas

Is there a preference to which side of ship when sailing to Florida and the Bahamas. I know when you are out to sea it really doesn't matter.

Depends where you mean? Miami is better on starboard going in and Great Stirrup Cay does not really matter as it is a tender

I've been on both sides for nassau too. You never know if the boat is pulling in or backing in there anyway.

If you are sailing out of NYC, the Statue of Liberty is on the starboard side, and returing to NYC Manhattan will be on th starboard side, NJ on the port side.

Yes, and some ships sail that itinerary out of NYC.

 

OP, since the ship can tie up on either side depening on many factors I don't think it matters much one way or the other.

Thank you so much for that information. I am well aware that the OP wanted to know about Florida and the Bahamas. But I assumed that s/he was asking about ships sailing to Florida and the Bahamas, not from Florida. And since it so happens that there are year round sailings from NYC to those two ports I assumed that this is what the OP was asking.

Yes I am sailing out of NY. I guess not knowing which way the ship will dock it really doesn't matter. I thought they docked the same way in Port Canaveral, GSC and Nassau. Thanks all!

Well there is nothing to see in PC except the space center way way way off. And you can see it from deck anyway

 

Gsc is a tender

 

Nassau well my feeling is you can look at señor frogs and the British colonial Hilton or some machinery thingy from deck or just keep your eyes closed lol

If you are on Breakaway, balconies on the Port side will be able to see the fireworks display they have one night.

 

If you're looking for scenery thru NYC, the statue is also something great for the starboard side people. But we had a lot of fun watching the buildings go by on the port side, and both sides get to see the Verrazano.
