obladi1 Posted August 7, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2005 Does anyone else out there wear a tankini that gives good support for a large busted woman. I am having the hardest time finding swimsuits. Help!!
Jan_In_Maine Posted August 7, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2005 I have two tankin's that worked well, found both at Penney's a year ago - Unfortunately I need to lose a few pounds to get back into them - but I am a 38-40 DD or DDD - and support is always an issue .... hopefully they will still be in fashion for the next cruise (and that they will fit by then). LandLockedInAZ Posted August 7, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 7, 2005 Try Land's End (landsend.com). They have a large number of swimsuits to fit every body type, including some with built-in underwire bra. Sort of pricy, but worth it IMO.
Baxter Posted August 7, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 7, 2005 I have several tankinis, and I love them to death. But I have yet to find a 2 piece bathing suit that provides the kind of support I would like. They do the trick, but I wouldn't want to be doing anything too active wearing one. Grayce Posted August 7, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 7, 2005 I have a tankini that provides fairly good support. It has the inner soft cup bra and double straps. It doesn't exactly make me look "perky" but I aint drooping either :D The style is actually quite flattering as I purchased the top and bottom separatly and was able to get a larger size for the top and a smaller size for my bottom. I wish i knew who made it because I'd buy 5 more the same ;)
mrsdiznee Posted August 7, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 7, 2005 I saw some by Delta Burke at Belks last weekend that looked like they would have great support. I didn't try them on because I had already purchased 2 one piece's for our cruise. I wished I had seen them before.
herecomesthesun Posted August 8, 2005 #7 Share Posted August 8, 2005 I would say that a halter-ini would hold in your breasts the best. For me they provide the greatest support and the least jiggle!
Straughn Posted August 8, 2005 #8 Share Posted August 8, 2005 I second the Lansd End suggestion. I have stopped buying swimwear anyplace else. They fit well (no need to size up, like you have to do with some brands) and they last forever-no fading, pilling, etc.
obladi1 Posted August 8, 2005 Author #9 Share Posted August 8, 2005 Which lands end styles fit well??
caviargal Posted August 8, 2005 #10 Share Posted August 8, 2005 I am a 34DD and always have great luck with separates by Tara Grinna. The tops, including many tankini styles, are bra sized. The quality and durability is excellent. And they are pretty suits!
natalie2727 Posted August 8, 2005 #11 Share Posted August 8, 2005 Check out http://www.junonia.com. They have really cute tankinis for us larger women.
LandLockedInAZ Posted August 8, 2005 #12 Share Posted August 8, 2005 Which lands end styles fit well?? I have had at least three Land's End suits and they all fit well. They call their suits the "Tugless Tank" for the 1-piece style because you aren't constantly pulling the suit down at your rear. Visit their site and click on Women's, then Swimwear. They provide all sorts of options from Tankinis to Underwire models to further narrow down your search. I have one similar to this: http://www.landsend.com/cd/fp/prod/0,,1_2_1930_10433_120480_98927_5:view=593,00.html?CM_MERCH=PAGE_10433&sid=2286141173465124061 which I bought because I do pool aerobics classes and I didn't want to risk falling out the top and it supports me very well, keeping everything in place. PugMomX3 Posted August 8, 2005 #13 Share Posted August 8, 2005 I found a great tankini top with padding at JC Penney - ordered it from the catalog. I can't ever find a top big enough in the store. I wear a very large top and this one worked great.
obladi1 Posted August 9, 2005 Author #14 Share Posted August 9, 2005 Thank you everyone for all your help but can you be a little more specific about which Landsend suit style are good. I wear a size 8 on the bottom and a 36DD on top so separates may work best

twosit Posted August 11, 2005 #17 Share Posted August 11, 2005 I have had great luck with miraclesuits. I buy them on ebay and on a website called http://www.cyberswim.com Many of them have underwire which adds extra support.
Straughn Posted August 11, 2005 #18 Share Posted August 11, 2005 Obladi1- If you haven't been to the Lands End website-go. They have a whole section devoted to what type swimwear is best for what type body. They have all kinds of tops with different support options: underwires, full support bras, and shelf bras which provide the least support. They also offer, in my opinion, a very good selection of mix and match sepaprates, so you can buy one size top and another bottom. It is hard to recommend a style for you, because I am not large-busted, so I don't have any first hand knowledge of those styles. Good luck! caviargal Posted August 11, 2005 #19 Share Posted August 11, 2005 I have seen the Tara Grinna suits mentioned but where do I look for them? I buy them locally as I live in FL and we have many specialty shops. I have seen them online as well and would suggest you Google them and see what happens.
