Carnival Bingo prizes

Is it just me, but does it seem like Carnival doesn't give out the big Bingo prizes like they used to?

I mean you look at the audience spending about $30 to $60 each, playing every day. But each Bingo seems to be worth only about $80 to $100.

I remember how they used to have the grand prize Bingo on the last day for a full card, and about 5 years ago, my youngest son won $1,500.

Any thoughts?

I agree 100% I have completely stopped playing on cruises!

I have thought about passing out a flyer for Stu's bingo with 50% payout but thought the first game better pay for flight home as they would kick us off the ship at first port.

OR not even wait until the next port. They just might put you in a rowboat and tell you which direction to start rowing.

I cruise frequently and play/watch bingo several times each cruise and almost always see the prize at $600. The only times I saw it lower was when they did the 5 game ones and each prize was $100.

On the liberty a few weeks ago ha games with pots of 250 and 300

The game with the best odds on the ship is blackjack. But the odds favor the house. Play long enough and you will lose.

When you use basic blackjack theory odds only slightly in their favor but in long run most will make casino richer.

Yeah it is in the range of 44-48% of the time you will win each hand. Just takes a lot longer to lose. It is the only game I will play...but I have only played about 10 times in the last 20 years! And only one time did I come out ahead by maybe $50.

the entertainment factor makes it better and if i sit down at table and lose 20-25 in an hour that is chalked up to entertainment.

lose that amount in 3 minutes and not enjoyable.

Carnival used to give a free cruise on the last nite of the cruise. I have no won bingo on a cruise though I USED to play it a lot but my friend did win the free cruise once. It has been a long time since they have done that bingo. They have cut back in this game also. Pots are lower than what used to be. But people still play it and those pull tab things. I saw a lady win 2000 on them but oter than that I haven't seen anyone win on them and I have been on 14 cruises and played or watched a lot of the games. But now I only play the first game as its usually low in numbers.

Agree. I like being mentally involved. Unlike slot machines which to me are horribly boring.

What is the minimum blackjack bet on carnival?

On the freedom a few weeks ago and they had Bingo where the payout was $1000, one at $750, win a cruise etc...

I stopped playing years ago when I was bored waiting for a show to begin while they were playing bingo. I counted the number of people standing in lines to buy 3 cards for $20 Now it was only a snapshot because by the time I had started counting there already those that had bought cards and sat down but there were 75ish people in lines. so figure about 100 players each with 3 cards. Assuming you are a sole winner, that puts yours odds at 1 in 300.

So they were taking a 1 in 300 chance with their $20 to win $500 (I think) and I realized that you would have a much better chance of going to the casino, going to the craps table and putting your $20 on the 12 coming on the next throw of the dice. Your odds there are 1 in 36 and your payout would be $680 (35 to 1 - $700 - the $20 bet). That's a bet I would make at the craps table at true odds of 36 to 1, so why would I risk $20 at 300+ to 1 to win less money? Then do the math of 100 people times $20 minus the prize ... Carnival is pulling in a minimum of $1500...

Years ago they paid the dancers a few bucks to work bingo but now might be part of the job.

In any case amazes me people dont realize the odds. And they even let you pay for the dauber now.

Carnival would be unhappy if many people do what you and I do in deciding whether to play. Also why I dont play the blackjack tourney now that it is bogo for platinums.

I was on the Valor and they gave a free cruise. It was early in the week, but I can't remember what day exactly.

We were the proud winners of a free cruise or $750 at the last bingo on the Sunshine last month. But, is free really free? We opted for the cruise and won a Cat 6A for seven nights (not to be used in Europe or Alaska) and had to use it in a year. Well, we opted to use it for our 25th anniversary coming up shortly. We paid $300 port/taxes, $200 for the extra night (we are going on an 8 night cruise) and $410 to upgrade to a Cat 8D (no lower balcony cabins were available, as the cruise was 5 weeks away), sailing out of New York (no airfare for us). Still a great deal (savings of $1350) and I am share they "slammed us" for going out of New York (Florida will most likely have been cheaper)!

FYI - we played on almost every cruise and finally won!
