Carnival Bingo prizes

I know right. $2 for a lousy dauber when I'm already paying $30 for a card that at best pays out $80 maybe

When did Carnival start using the dauber? Been on four Carnival cruises since November and I've only seen the folding tab ones.

Seen the dauber on Princess.

On the freedom a few weeks ago and they had Bingo where the payout was $1000, one at $750, win a cruise etc...

I stopped playing years ago when I was bored waiting for a show to begin while they were playing bingo. I counted the number of people standing in lines to buy 3 cards for $20 Now it was only a snapshot because by the time I had started counting there already those that had bought cards and sat down but there were 75ish people in lines. so figure about 100 players each with 3 cards. Assuming you are a sole winner, that puts yours odds at 1 in 300.

So they were taking a 1 in 300 chance with their $20 to win $500 (I think) and I realized that you would have a much better chance of going to the casino, going to the craps table and putting your $20 on the 12 coming on the next throw of the dice. Your odds there are 1 in 36 and your payout would be $680 (35 to 1 - $700 - the $20 bet). That's a bet I would make at the craps table at true odds of 36 to 1, so why would I risk $20 at 300+ to 1 to win less money? Then do the math of 100 people times $20 minus the prize ... Carnival is pulling in a minimum of $1500...

I totally agree with your numbers and understand what you are saying. But it is

Entertainment value for some people. I don't play bingo but cruise with many that do.

The whole process takes a hour or so having a cocktail socializing with friends, playing the game.

This all has value to many people, with the slight chance of winning.

Craps or roulette $20 1 roll or 1 spin less than 30 seconds.

More than likely the result will be the same no matter what game you play --$20

But my $20 lasted a hour at bingo and I enjoyed the company of friends

Entertainment value

We were the proud winners of a free cruise or $750 at the last bingo on the Sunshine last month. But, is free really free? We opted for the cruise and won a Cat 6A for seven nights (not to be used in Europe or Alaska) and had to use it in a year. Well, we opted to use it for our 25th anniversary coming up shortly. We paid $300 port/taxes, $200 for the extra night (we are going on an 8 night cruise) and $410 to upgrade to a Cat 8D (no lower balcony cabins were available, as the cruise was 5 weeks away), sailing out of New York (no airfare for us). Still a great deal (savings of $1350) and I am share they "slammed us" for going out of New York (Florida will most likely have been cheaper)!

FYI - we played on almost every cruise and finally won!

very interesting

I'd be interested in the answer to this as well. The Legend in May used the sheets where you fold the tabs. Bingo was $25 as they make you buy the pull tab strips. Some ships were charging $20 for Bingo and you could purchase pull tabs if you wanted them. We will be on the Splendor in September. Tabs or daubers?? Any one know?
