3 Songs that Carnival Has to Stop Playing

I actually love all three of those songs...gets me in the cruising mood! Personally, I wish they would stop making the waiters do any kind of entertainment in the dining room during service...

I wish they would bring back live steel drum bands like we had in the '90s instead of the canned music they're going to. That really made you feel like you were on a cruise!

I hate line dancing and would be happy to see those songs gone. No creativity involved at all.

Well I hate hip hop. Talk about no creativity. I hate the DJ and the ridiculously LOUD crap they play. I also HATE having a giant friggin tv blasting in my face when I come on deck in the morning. Few old line dances seems like the least evil of them all. Can't please everyone all the time.

I think some folks would love a totally quiet ship with 4:00 pm dining, complementary hair blurring on the lido, and after dinner bit#h session in the theatre.

LIKE - but forgot to add complimentary Metamucil tastings in the library, followed by free Geritol samples.;) All kidding aside, I think the cruise lines do a decent job of attempting to please everyone, with the exception of music, that is.

Same here - they can take their rap/hip hop/ghetto music and toss it overboard as far as I'm concerned. Then again, I also think the country CD's deserve the same fate. I personally like classic rock, and I know there are those that don't care for that either. I think the best approach would be to have the DJ's play a general mix of EVERYTHING, not just what THEY like - that way the rappers, Top 40, classic rockers, country listeners, jazz listeners, etc could all have a fair experience. Now as far as classical music, not sure how that would fit in the mix, however. Something about jamming Led Zeppelin, Beethoven, and Pitbull in the same set just really sounds weird.:)

Horrible! Id rather do the hokie pokie. The guy announces what to do like he is calling out bingo numbers at a casino.

"Cha Cha Slide"

This time we're gonna get funky

Everybody clap your hands

Clap clap clap clap your hands

Clap clap clap clap your hands

Alright we gonna do the basic steps

slide to the left

slide to the right

Take it back now y'all

One hop this time

Right foot lets stomp

Left foot lets stomp

Cha cha real smooth

Now turn it out

To the left

Take it back now y'all

One hop this time

Right foot lets stomp

Left foot lets stomp

Cha cha now y'all

Wow I like that song. While waiting in blazing sun trying to get back on The Sunshine in Nassau, Jamie, our cruise director along with other staff had that song blaring on the pier and they danced to it. It made the wait bearable.

I have no problem with dancing on the lido, it gets the vaca going. But for crying out loud, mix it up a little! The same tired, never were any good songs over and over and over and over...............

Oh how I long for the days of Led Zep 4 (ZoSo), Cream / Clapton / Blind Faith / Yardbirds, Dark Side of The Moon.

Pitbull, Katy Perry and the rest won't even be brought up in conversation 20 years from now, much less 50 years down the road. McCartney plays a 40 song three hour set at age 72 and every song is was a smash hit that still gets airplay.

Todays, autotuned canned caca makes me want to puke. Even the lowly Monkees look and sound like musical geniuses compared to todays Billboard top 100. I know I sound old, well I am old, but a lot of todays "superstars" have little or no talent. They just are well marketed and have big productions.

Your response reminds me of something I realized one day - if you can ever gather up enough intestinal fortitude to stomach listening to some current crap, I have noticed that Jason Derulo (Desrouleaux) feels he has to announce his name in every one of his songs. I couldn't figure out why, and then it finally hit me - his music is so bad and forgettable that if one of his CD's happens to be dusted off in 10 years, people would know who the "artist" was in case the writing had faded. Same thing with Iggy Azalea.

FWIW, that's just my opinion, and no offense intended for those who have no taste in real music. Actually, Clapton is probably my all-time favorite artist, but also enjoy listening to Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Metallica, Rammstein, as well as a lot of other artists of the 70's.

Yes, that song is long! "First time ever I saw your face" (5.22 minutes) and "MacArthur Park" (7 minutes!) are also terribly long songs!

So is American Pie. I am pooped by the time I finish singing it. But it is my favorite one to sing.

Yeah and what's really bad is "the first time ever you saw my face" was the first song I learned to sing at karaoke so I used to sing it frequently. Then I realized that since even I was getting bored during the song, that the listeners surely were, so I stopped singing it. I'm sure all the people at karaoke on my cruises are very grateful that I learned other shorter songs! :p

My karaoke go to songs from the late 60's and early 70's are all under 4 minutes. Unfortunately, with the new computerized karaoke system, a few of my favorites have disappeared.

There are clearly 3 types of people:

1) Those who hate to dance

2) Those who like to dance but feel rhythmically challenged and so like to be told exactly what to do

3) Those of us who just want something with a good melody and beat and we'll decide when to clap, or raise our hands or move our feet, thank you very much.

The problem is that the emphasis seems to be on type 2.

This is a bit off topic, but I was in the MDR on my last cruise and they played seven Michael Jackson songs in a row. I like M.J., but I thought that was a little much.

Was it during the death of Michael Jackson's anniversary? June 25th?

Not to change the subject, but what exactly is "hair blurring?"

I don't mind them at all....of course you won't find me dancing to them but I do enjoy watching everyone else dance to it....especially DD who really enjoys it. One thing I can say for them is that they do get the people out there dancing and having fun, what's so wrong with that???

If I could make a request it would be to quit playing Hot Hot Hot or whatever the title is. If I could also make another request it would be for the DJ in the clubs to play a song all the way through, sometimes they get to carried away mixing and forget they are there to help entertain the crowd not practice their mixing skills.

One other request would to be able to make a request, last year on the Dream I was told by the DJ that the reason for the glass between him and me was so he did not have to listen to me.

Also kill theme nights in the clubs....I can only take so many hours of Micheal Jackson or any other artist before I go crazy.

AND yes I enjoy dancing in the clubs, but when the dance floor is empty the DJs need to get a clue. As a side note I worked as a DJ during my college years. If the dance floor is empty you have failed at your job.
