New to Thomson questions?

Recommended Posts

Well done. Hope they can fix you up. :)

The travel agent made request with Thomson but it appears that the second part of the b2b I wanted is unavailable. Unclear if it is full for that cabin type or completely full. I checked on the website and it still seems to be available?

I called thomson again to ask, they said they would call me back but 3 days later I've still not heard from them. This is getting annoying, do they not want my business?:(

On the Dream at least they now shut the buffet in the Lido at 1am in the morning and reopen it at about 5am from memory so it is nearly 24 hours - more like 20 hours !! If you have not eaten enough in those hours it is open then you have a very large appetite !! :D

I agree. I had a few nocturnal visits to the Lido (to escape DH's post-casino snoring) and didn't see much evidence of food before 5am (when cereal was available). There was water and coffee available overnight.

Nobody cruises with Thomson for the ships. It's only for the itineraries, IMO. They are not competitively priced so look at other lines too. Also, don't expect good customer service.

I've been on Majesty and Dream and thought both ships were lovely. The glitzier ships I have seen in port have not been attractive to me. Firstly, they are totally ugly with all their balcony cabins (not to mention their poor aerodynamics and therefore fuel efficiency). Also, who needs water slides, etc?

We were docked alongside the Norwegian Epic in Palma and it was an abomination.

I agree with that Amerryscott and sympathise about DH's snoring;) but having had a balcony a few times, they are nice, and it is lovely to get some fresh air :)

(Quotes working now )

The thing I would say is that as the ships are smaller by modern standards, they generate a more friendly feel. You bump into the same people. I also like the nostalgic feel, I don't want a climbing wall, or skating rink, or Disney characters parading through an atrium. I want good food, high standards of cleanliness, and interesting itineraries, waking up in a different port every day, and that's what Thomson does well. It averages an extra port day per week competed to most other lines.

That's a coincidence, because I have just been pre-booking tickets for our one and a half days in Amsterdam on the Spirit mini-cruise. I paid for the Anne Frank House with a debit card, no problem. Then I tried to book tickets for the Nemo Science Centre but it would not take any British visa or credit cards only iDeal cards. :(

I sympathise with you and it is frustrating and annoying. And there are some UK travel agents who do not book Thomson cruises either.

When you go to Anne Frank the queue for pre booked tickets is on the left of the entrance. We were in the wrong, long queue for a while before we realised.
