Short Pride review

Please be understanding as this is my first ever posting on CC. I have been reading other reviews for sometime and appreciate the pointers I read! We are back from the Pride sailing on June 29. We are from central NJ so the trip to Baltimore was easy. We stayed at a Best Western in Towson the night before to avoid an early morning on debarkation day. It served it's purpose and was convenient to jump back on the highway to get to the cruise port. We had FTTF for the first time and LOVED it! The port employees were so much more friendly and helpful than our last experience in Bayonne. I have read that many people enjoy the spirit class ships. I, for one, did not love it, but any day on a cruise is a good one. Traveling with me were my 7 year old son, 10 year old son, my husband, my sister, and her husband. It was our first time at Grand Turk, HMC, and Freeport. Now I understand the passionate responses to HMC- possibly the best place on earth! Should have listened about getting a cabana but we all agreed to consider that if we are lucky enough to return. We enjoyed our snorkeling and beach trip in Grand Turk, with some great rum punch to enhance the experience and in Freeport we did an ok Glass Bottom Boat tour. We really enjoyed the comedy club, the boys loved camp Carnival, and watching karaoke many nights made for good entertainment. As for the ship, there truly is a sewage-type odor in certain areas. Thankfully it was not permeating anywhere that we were staying ( mostly hallways, sometimes near an elevator) but I sure hope that her time in dry dock will correct that! This was our first Carnival cruise since 2006 so I did notice the food quality has declined but nobody went hungry. We tried the steakhouse (without the kids) and enjoyed that tremendously. We had been to the cooking demonstration there earlier in the week which made us decide to book the reservation. That was free and we received samples along with the recipes to bring home. My sister and her husband enjoyed the casino each night. I finally won a plastic ship on a stick at a trivia event- my MAJOR AWARD! We enjoyed the trip immensely and I have been trying to talk my husband into our next booking as soon as possible!!! I would definitely consider going on Pride again after dry dock !

I enjoyed your review on he pride. We have been on the pride two times and will be back on board sept. 14 2014. Come on 64 more day. This is our favorite

ship. I must say we have never smelled any foul oders. I guess that is a good thing. Talk your DH into another time on the pride. We only live 20 min. from the port. So great for us.

Nice review. We have been on the Pride about 7 times. We are only about 25 minutes from port.

Apparently we have been lucky enough to have never smelled any sewage type odor. Now on the Grandeur we have.

We are going on her again this Sept. in 71 days.:D

Dixieva, We received an email that the ship was delayed getting into port due to helping a disabled vessel the previous day so we waited until around noon to arrive. I had planned to be there by 11:30 prior to that news. I have read that they often don't open the parking until around 11am for new arrivals because it is often slightly delayed. The port employees are great in Baltimore! Have a great time!!!
