Rare alrichards4003 Posted July 23, 2014 Author #53 Share Posted July 23, 2014 My husband chose the top 5 in Puerto Rico shore excursion, or something like it. We were supposed to go to a few places, but only ended up go to El Yunque rainforest and San Cristobal Fort. The trip to the rainforest was supposed to be 45 minutes, but the road was washed out so the other route made in an hour and 10 minutes, plus they added a restroom stop at a souvenir shop, due the increased length of the ride to the rainforest. The guy who was yelling at the pizza guy was on this tour and he and his wife found another like minded couple and they complained from the time they sat down in the theater waiting for the excursion to start and during the entire bus ride. I get valid complaints, but you are on vacation, accentuate the positive. We stopped for about 15 minutes a few minutes away from the official entrance to the rainforest. image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr

Rare alrichards4003 Posted July 23, 2014 Author #56 Share Posted July 23, 2014 image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr In addition to the other delays, the buses and cars came to a standstill, the utility company had knocked down some trees that blocked the road and they were being cleared by the police. As we pulled into the Fort and were trying to get off the bus, one the complainers held everyone up before the driver could open the door by starting a litany of how it was the worst experience of his life, the guy should be fired, etc. And blocked the door. This went on for at least 5 minutes, finally my husband got up and said the complainer was interfering with everyones time at the fort and he needed to stop blocking the doorway. image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr
Rare alrichards4003 Posted July 24, 2014 Author #57 Share Posted July 24, 2014 You could see the ship from the fort. We ended walking back to the ship from the fort instead of getting back on the bus. Neither one of us are in spectacular shape and it was hot, so I would definitely consider it doable, if yow want to see the fort, but not go on a shore excursion. image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr
Rare alrichards4003 Posted July 24, 2014 Author #58 Share Posted July 24, 2014 We walked around port, DH collects shot glasses from the various places we visit and I wanted a bottle of PR rum from Puerto Rico. We found the shot glass, but I never found the rum, I am sure we would have found it if we went out further, but decided on a Guys' burger instead image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr I went to the spa, I think the only day I did not go was on the first one. It was nice on a big ship to have a quiet spot with only a few people. I then went to Red Frog to hear Suki, she sang what my husband would call "womens" music, Sarah MacLaughlin. Cindy Lauper, Tori Amos etc. I wish I had found her earlier on the cruise, I really enjoyed her. image by alrichards4003, on Flickr Rum Jumper image by alrichards4003, on Flickr This was the only time I ate anything at Red Frog, most everything was $3.33 and I thought it was definitely worth it. They served from 4-12, I know my husband went there when most other outlets were closed, he said the grouper fingers were good. This time in lobby bar image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr Then went to see Divas. I saw the Brits the previous year and did not care for it, but since I enjoy live music, the casino, stand up and the piano bar, I am not centrally focused on the shows. I would say I saw Studio VIP and Epic Rock on the Sunshine and thought both of those shows were great. Divas had a lot of music I do not listen to and thought it would be more Whitney and less Lady Gaga image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr
bobo smith Posted July 24, 2014 #60 Share Posted July 24, 2014 We did this cruise last November. What Island was the souvenier shop on the top of the mountain? The driver stopped at cashew tree along the way and we picked a few ate them raw. That was a nice time. The cruise was kinda slow thanks to the warm weather October 2013 we were able to do the pool and watch the night time movies comfortably.I surely would suggest to anyone that this is a bargain if you price your air fare to San Juan well.We did not do anything in San Juan because we were already there years prior.Beware San Juan is a crime pit and stay on the path preferably in the day time.We saw two day time robberies(Purse snatchers). The Ritz Carlton was where we stayed years before and they had the best beds out of all the hotels we have been to in the last 20 years.Top notch service but expensive. We ate at the diner a few doors down and they had very good Cuban food.We were aboard the Valor.San Juan airport was a trap 4 bucks for soda after the gate.Eat at the restaurant before the gate. Rare alrichards4003 Posted July 24, 2014 Author #61 Share Posted July 24, 2014 After the show, it was time for a late dinner. I had a table for one, but was so close to the table next to me that it was like we were all at one table. Rare alrichards4003 Posted July 26, 2014 Author #66 Share Posted July 26, 2014 Neither my husband or I can sleep in silence so we leave the tv on. I often put it on the Lido channel, to listen to music and late at night see a few people wandering around. I was going to get a breakfast burrito and noticed the towel animals on the tv. They were all over the Lido deck. image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr
Rare alrichards4003 Posted July 27, 2014 Author #67 Share Posted July 27, 2014 image by alrichards4003, on Flickr We rented a cabana, I think it was $129 for the day. It is more cost effective if you have more people. But we enjoyed it. You have 2 couches, a chair tables, ceiling fan and ac inside which you can lock and a balcony with 2 loungers. There is a button to press if you want bar or food service. I think there should have been a sign about reserving the cabanas since I saw a family try to take one over, a server told them they had to be rented and the family who rented it just happened to be at the pool. Margarita Ville is a huge pool party. The pool wraps around in several different areas, there is a dj, an area to dance, a swim up bar, tables, chairs, loungers, and the flow rider. Our AC in the room was not that great in the cabin, so we really enjoyed this one. image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr Fried Calamari image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr

Rare alrichards4003 Posted July 27, 2014 Author #72 Share Posted July 27, 2014 In the piano bar, you write requests for songs and your name on the slips they have around the bar and on the tables. Adding a tip gets the song played quicker. When your song is chosen, with Ben you are given the tip wadded up to dunk into the shark's mouth. Once you make the shot, he plays "Ole, Ole, Ole" while everyone claps and the person who dunked the tip runs around the bar high-fiving everyone. image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr Boas image by alrichards4003, on Flickr Shots image by alrichards4003, on Flickr After 10-11, it is an adult show. Rare alrichards4003 Posted July 27, 2014 Author #74 Share Posted July 27, 2014 The last day, I try to fit in as much as possible. But you can only be so many places at one time, plus back to the real world soon, so need to try to have a little relaxation as well. Being that a lot of people were trying to use their free brunch drink coupons, the seaday brunch was packed. I really don't care with sitting with other people, especially before I have had any coffee. But, sometimes you don't have much of an option. People are usually nice, its just not wanting to socialize that time of the morning. image by alrichards4003, on Flickr Pork chop with cream sauce, green beans and cheese grits. image by alrichards4003, on Flickr After returning from the spa, found disembarkation info image by alrichards4003, on Flickr The Cruiser and Trivia image by alrichards4003, on Flickr Bingo image by alrichards4003, on Flickr image by alrichards4003, on Flickr
